Starbucks is expensive and satisfying. I expect to pay more. Fortunately, I typically receive a superior/unique product and first-class customer service; therefore, I am satisfied.
Airports are expensive and unsatisfying. I expect to pay more. Unfortunately, I always receive average/generic products and typically receive second-class service; therefore I am unsatisfied.
I imagine there are fancy economic laws to describe the relationship between cost, products, service, and satisfaction. When you add choice and time as potential factors things get complicated...
All this to say that when Starbucks is in an Airport, has all the potential to be extraordinarily expensive and catastrophically unsatisfying.
Therefore, as as I was in a big rush to catch a plane and Starbucks was the only location to get a sandwich near our gate, I walked in knowing I would pay way too much for two sandwiches and snacks and just hoped whomever was helping me could ring me up as quickly as possible.
While expensive, ($21.75). The young lady helping me surpassed my all other expectations.. Not having any singles, I placed $25 on the counter irritated I couldn't just leave 25 cents behind and get to the gate!. Before I could grab my stash and go grabbed a sack, filled it with extra mustard and mayo, my sandwiches and roasted almonds. She worked so efficiently that she had tended my money, loaded up sack, and gave me my change before I could anxiously look at my watch! So impressed by this, I not only dropped my quarter in the tip jar, but left all the change...(NOT my typical Starbucks tipping practice: drop the silver--keep the paper)
This could be the end of a nice four-star review; nevertheless, her "wisdom" continued to pay off and elevate this to five-stars. First, I didn't have to cram the sandwiches into my wife's purse; the wisdom of the sack! Next, she had the wisdom to give me extra mustard and mayo. She must have known the dense bread would be too dry with the sauce listed in the ingredients alone! Finally, she put a knife in the sack. While I bought two (one for me and one for my wife) with all the bread, one was plenty for both of us. I have no idea how we would have divided the near 3 inches of bread without destroying the sandwich and leaving a mess on the airplane floor. In sum, she not only met my expectations, but met my unexpected and unknown needs.
I have two regrets:
I regret putting my change in the tip jar; I would rather her keep all of it.
I regret being unable name her personally in this review. Which is particularly frustrating because I made a point of looking at her name tag to thank her personally...
Read moregot Bacon Gouda Egg Sandwich and Egg White Bites
this sandwich was apparently the best ranked starbucks item - so i was excited to try it
getting this out of the way - this food was just too expensive. it ended up being around 14 dollars, split about 7 each for the sandwich and the egg white bites, and for 360 and 170 calories respectively, that's just way too expensive for 14 dollars, you can find a full near 1500 calorie meal that's pretty good at plenty of other places
starting with the sandwich, i thought this was pretty good it was quite warm - which was nice the buns had a nice sourdough-like flavor to them - I quite liked their taste the egg was cooked well and combined pretty well with the cheese speaking of the gouda cheese, it mostly tasted like other cheeses but melted well and had good flavor
the bacon was incredibly disappointing - it was barely even there - sort of draped over the sandwich like a wet blanket 'Sizzling' would be the complete antonym of how I actually experienced this bacon
turning to the egg white bites, these surprised me in a couple ways first, I didn't expect them to be so big - they were actually decently sized second, these had surprising flavor - i was expecting them to more just taste like normal egg whites. however, the cheese and spinach added a really great taste to this
overall, pretty solid + healthy breakfast food that's on the expensive side sandwich: 7.5/10 egg white bites:...
Read moreWorst experience at airport Starbucks. Ordered a pink drink with light ice - that’s it. No other fancy modifications. Girl creating my drink took over 15 minutes to figure out what was going on, all the while other workers beside her were getting the other customers who were behind me , out with their drinks. I watched her take one empty milk box and pour the remaining dribble into the cup. She put the box down and picked up another box which had zero milk in it as well. I finally spoke up bc I have a flight to catch, and told them I needed to get going. She just loooed at me blankly, while the woman giving the drinks out looked behind her and just said, “She’s working on it.” I told her she can’t be “working on it for 15 min” (and I times it after the people right behind me got their drinks). She was milking her time making my drink, then I noticed it wasn’t light ice but I wasn’t going to deal with it bc I had to go. Drink has a lot of ice and is sub par bc it has weed chunks in it which aren’t of the strawberry and tastes different than my usual...
