Stayed at this hotel last week, starting on Tuesday. We booked it online, which was very easy to do (via Expedia app). Our planned visit was only for 1 night as we were flying out the following day. Unfortunately our personal vehicle was subject to attempted theft, which was very bravely intercepted by the hotel’s security guard, and the thieves fled with only some loose change and few of our personal items from the vehicle. Do not be deterred by our misfortune of attempted vehicle theft, if it wasn’t for the highly alert and responsive hotel security guard, our vehicle would’ve been stolen!
We received a call to our room at 2am, but did not answer (we were fast asleep and thought it was a mistaken call). In the morning around 7am we received another call but couldn’t answer as I was in the washroom and my partner was in the conference suite working. At 9:30 we received a third call, at which point my partner answered the call and was very politely informed that our vehicle was subjected to attempted theft. After inspecting the vehicle we found that some of our personal items were taken (clothes, sunshades, perfumes, loose change, charging cables and such). The hotel staff were essential in the entire process of making the ordeal as stress-free as possible. The hotel manager, Tonya, was incredibly helpful in providing cctv imagery to both, us and the attending police officer who also prompt recorded the report. The concierge ladies at the reception were empathetic and ensured we had everything we needed for the (suddenly extended) stay. We lacked nothing, we had free breakfast daily, we had fresh towels daily, room service at request, even self serve laundry was provided, it was just incredibly helpful and thoughtful of the hotel staff to look after us while we dealt with the insurance policies providers, flights cancellations and rescheduling and auto repairs of our vehicle. Mind you, this was happening during the busy thanksgiving week /weekend! The hotel was busy, not short of guests, the staff had their hands full, and yet, they went above and beyond for us. They sure made us feel like at home, and we are forever grateful to the staff for their extensive hospitality. In the end, as we finally got our situation of the vehicle stabilised and it was time to checkout, we were informed that the entire week’s stay was free of cost, due to the ordeal we endured! I was gobsmacked! I cried a little, as kindness like this is so very rare, but certainly very much appreciated. Thank you to all the incredible team at Coast Gateway hotel, you are a pillar of your establishment and we couldn’t have gone through this unfortunate experience with such ease without your support and your consideration. We will...
Read moreCharged my card $318 without permission. Took me 6 calls for them to get me to anyone who could actually help. On the 4th call they said they would send my screenshots to accounting but I don’t think they really did, I also don’t know why they wouldn’t give me their email directly. The staff all told me different things regarding who could help me. Staff told me a supervisor could help, supervisor would extremely rude and dismissive then said she cant help but the manager can. Then the manager said she cant help but accounting can. I don’t know what is going on with their chain of command but it took 5 or 6 calls to even get them to point me in the right direction. They said they finally found the charge, but if your hotel makes such a huge error, maybe act slightly regretful and don’t be extremely rude to that person who had to invest several calls to your hotel, their bank, and waste their time on hold because your line doesn’t have any extensions, and even when you do get ahold of a supervisor after 10 minutes they just put you on hold again right after solving nothing because they have something else to do, they get mad at you and cut you off if you ask them not to. Then the manager when I said that happened could have at least pretended to care about their quality of customer service but just told me they are busy. Thats the worst excuse I have ever heard. All they had to do was give me the accounting email to send my information from the beginning hut instead they made me waste 2+ hours of my time calling back again and again until someone gave me the contact info for someone who actually knew what they are doing.
The shuttle was nice but having my card charged a random amount that had nothing to do with my booking amount then them doing nothing to follow up to resolve until I finally got ahold of accounting who was helpful and much more respectful than the supervisor and manager I spoke with. Hotel is very dated which i didnt mind for the cost but its not worth hours of my life to ensure I’m not charged 3x the agreed price and I wouldn’t walk outside of the hotel lot as I saw some random guy chasing someone who didn’t seem to know him.
I’ve never experienced such terrible customer service whose front desk staff and supervisor have 0 training what to do if an unauthorized charge was made to someone’s card. Seriously I don’t know why I had to waste hours of my time when if they just gave me the contact info to accounting from the first interaction, or when I spoke to a supervisor would have gotten this moving. The supervisor especially had 0 inclination to help and cut me off repeatedly because what I was saying didn’t...
Read moreMy wife had an o’dark thirty flight at SEATAC. We live a couple of hours north, so we decided to book a room for the night before her departure. Knowing we were simply going to roll in, eat dinner and go to bed we were not looking for anything special. She had to be at the airport at 5am, so breakfast was not even a thing.
Coast Gateway is very conveniently located. The exit we took off the freeway led us to International Blvd., which is the road the airport entrance is on. The hotel was one traffic light away. The staff was nice and check in was a breeze. The hotel was clean and in good shape. There were no weird odors or stains. The beds were extremely comfortable.
When it comes to chow there is a nice looking 4+ star steak place in the same lot as the hotel and a Subway, L&L Hawaiian BBQ, and a 4+ star Thai place within a very short walk.
I was driving my wife to the airport at 4:45 am, but there was a Coast Gateway shuttle loading under the covered entrance when we walked out the front door. Coast Gateway actually has its own traffic light, which makes getting in and out a breeze with SEATAC’s crazy traffic. When you pull out of the lot, the next light you come to is the airport, so we were at the airport in no time.
I was going to go straight home after dropping my wife off, but decided to go back to the hotel for the free breakfast that started at 6am. It was a pretty sparse affair. For a hearty breakfast there was waffles and sausage. Besides that there was oatmeal and a wide variety of cold options. The coffee was good. Honestly, I was not disappointed in the limited offerings. I know the last thing I want to do before going to an early morning flight is to have a huge breakfast. After all, airport and airplane bathrooms are usually pretty gross.
The only negatives I could possibly give Coast Gateway are noise and a tiny parking lot. The place backs up against SEATAC and the airport flies all night. We were in one of the rooms facing the airport. We simply cranked on the ac fan and the problem was solved. As for the parking…the lot is small and shared with the steakhouse. We pulled in at 5:30pm on a Saturday night and were able to one of the last slots. If you plan to use the place as a base of operations and you have a car, things might get dicey. There is a huge Wally Park garage a half a block away though.
All in all I thought Coast Gateway was great and they are now my go to hotel for early morning...
