A favorite, and a go-to for takeout, though not always consistent.
We've had many of the dishes on the menu and almost all have been great most of the times we've tried them. Love the General Tso's chicken, the special fried rice, the broccoli beef, the house chow mein, the Ma Pao tofu etc. The appetizers are great, not to be dismissed. The sampler platter is a regular order.
Maybe every other time a dish or two will fall short of our expectations: something won't be as spicy as we remember it or the sauce will be dim and bland. Last time, the sweet and sour pork was off, tasted like the container it came in. Skip the Thai selections, sauce has been overly sweet when we've tried them.
The dine-in experience is pretty no-frills, though the staff are attentive and helpful, we love the tea. For take-out, they are always right on with their time estimates, which is much appreciated with the hungry folks at home need an exact ETA.
This is where we go, and we go a little bit out of our way, when we want...
Read moreChef Liao Asian Fusion Cuisine is a cozy little spot conveniently located near the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. It’s a perfect choice for a quick and satisfying lunch after a morning of exploring the zoo.
The portions here are incredibly generous, so come with an appetite! The service was impressively fast and very friendly, which made for a pleasant dining experience.
I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, which came with white rice, hot and sour soup, and an egg roll. The Pad Thai was flavorful and well-balanced, with just the right amount of tanginess and sweetness. I also tried the Sweet and Sour Chicken, which was delicious but, in hindsight, I would recommend asking for the sweet and sour sauce on the side. It wasn’t a huge issue, but it would have allowed for a bit more control over the flavor.
Overall, Chef Liao is a fantastic spot for a hearty, delicious meal with quick service and a welcoming atmosphere. If you’re in the area, especially after a trip to the zoo, it’s definitely...
Read moreMaybe it was an off-day. Walked in, greeted and told to sit down. The chef was super friendly and smiling, so an extra star. However, the restaurant was in poor condition from the faded sign outside to the food stains on the walls inside. No one ever came to my table to take my order, bring water or a menu. The temperature inside was cold (felt like 55 degrees), while outside was high 30’s. I finally just went back to my warm car to place a take out order. Order came and the beef looked like rubber and everything else looked microwaved and had no taste. I had half a bite of the broccoli, then closed the box and discarded the food. Very hungry at that point, ended up going elsewhere for lunch. I’ve had decent Chinese food in Seattle and other cities (SF, Chicago, Boston, NYC). This was by far the worst. If you don’t like wasting food or money, I would...
