A must-try. This is the first place I've needed to add a bookmark AFTER I visited it. Japanese curry is popular all throughout Japan and will hopefully start catching on in Seattle. (Modern's owner is from Osaka.) It's perfect with rice, not too thick, and more similar to India's flavor than Thailand's. The ambience is very fun and friendly, they stream modern Jazz and you'll have your choice of enjoying your meal inside or outside on their beautifully lit back patio. Visit their wall of Japanese art, crafts, and books all contributed by local Japanese artists and authors. The sushi looks amazing but today I tried their Japanese pork sausage curry ($12) and was not disappointed. Everything was perfect, especially the salmon belly, grilled salmon and salmon sashimi! Everything was fresh tasty and out of this world.

While they don't have indoor seating, I saw two small tables outside. I'll be going back and happy freaking...
