Best bottle shop in town. 15+ cases of beer and cider, beers across the spectrum, from porters to biere de mars. 50+ taps at the front of the store pour beers from across Washington and national/international favorites. There is extensive seating, but come early if you are planning on staying for an evening on the weekend, as it has a tendency to fill up.
The staff is generally quite friendly and helpful, and will provide complementary tastes to make sure you know what you are in for before you order a pint. Ask to sample a few things, or ask for a recommendation if you are unsure. They are generally quite knowledgeable about beer, and can help point you in the right direction.
The bar often gets rare beers in stock, so if you are hoping to get a bottle of Goose Island BCS or a limited edition Fremont, make sure to ask when the bottles will be arriving. Their anniversary celebration every year features rare beers from their friends at breweries across the nation and is an absolute must attend.
This place has incredible options to deck out your beer collection, and the largest tap list in town. If you are a beer nut, this is...
Read moreLots of 1 star reviews coming in from people who never have been and never will go to Chuck's. The shop took a stand politically - you can agree or disagree, and if that affects your purchasing decisions that's up to you.
But a lot of people are in the reviews writing lazy, unimaginative comments like "worst IPA I've had" or "toilet water". So some thoughts: If this is your idea of vigilante justice, well, you're not very good at it. Regardless of your political stance, the beer here is good. Their own brews are great, and their can and bottle collection is extensive. I get most of my interesting beers here. The staff has always been polite and helpful. Have gotten plenty of good recommendations from them. The space is also nice. They've got good outdoor seating and have been doing well with the whole pandemic response.
So yeah, if you make your buying decisions based on political activism, more power to you. But know that this place is a top tier beer shop and no amount of unintelligent liars piling it on in the reviews...
Read moreWhat a great neighborhood hangout. For a long time I drove past it thinking it was just a weed place - but it's not! They have dozens of beers on tap, and hundreds of varieties in the cooler for you to choose from. Also they have a frozen drink maker which does a margarita-type drink. Also there's a small selection of non-alcoholic drinks and ice cream including a vegan option, and some chips but no other food in the shop. However, every night there's a new food truck parked on the curb so you can get your meal there and then go grab your drink inside Chuck's. There's a terrific outdoor seating area (no table service) under a giant tent wherein you can enjoy both. The only somewhat frustrating things is, the line moves really slow and is often long. It's not unusual to wait 10-20 minutes to get your drink. I think this is because there are so many choices and most people don't even start evaluating them until they are standing in front...
