Just had a meal here the other night and it was excellent. I am in no way a food critic but I have had enough sushi to recognize quality when I eat it, and this place has the goods.
The prices are what you would expect for good sushi (6-19$ per role) , and obviously anything off the menu will be a few dollars more.
We only had sushi roles, gyoza, and beef yakisoba. If your looking for well priced quality sushi this is your place. The Gyoza was good (kind of mushy) and the Yakisoba was not bad but not great.
On the other hand each role that we had was great. We even ordered a couple that were not on the menu. We wanted something with cream cheese so he made a "Philly" and it was impressive, never had one made that way and it really worked (I'm honestly surprised its not on the menu). We also liked the "Crazy Dragon" and the "Spicy Tuna" so we had the chef combine the two and what he came up with was great. It had spicy and mild, crunchy and soft, warm and cool, and sweet and salty components that all combined for a terrific role.
I would encourage you to trust the sushi chef. He not only has skills, he seems to really believe in what he is doing and I think that he really cares about his customers experience and truly wants to make them...
Read moreI thought the pictures looked great and so I wanted to try the sushi in this hole in the wall location which can often be great for sushi but I was thoroughly disappointed.
I wanted to order two pieces of sashimi and two rolls to start. The waitress stopped me and wanted to tell me the specials, I said great. She offered Toro and hamachi belly which I happily accepted.
Both were nagiri, not sashimi, which was fine. The hamachi belly was decent but the Toro was seared... I was genuinely shocked as I had never seen cooked Toro before. It was tender but tasted like cooked tuna which has a very different flavor.
The rolls were loose and poorly cut. The pieces were very unevenly spaced. I wouldn't normally complain about this but there was only 4 other people in the restaurant and the food came out extremely quickly. I've had supermarket rolls where the sushi chef took more time and care to prepare a roll than they did.
All of this could be forgiven but it wasn't cheap. $20 for two pieces of cooked Toro nagiri and $18 for a California roll topped with tuna is way too expensive for the quality. I spent $100 on dinner for 2 people with no alcohol and left slightly hungry and very...
Read moreUpdate: I haven't been back in three years. The sashimi and black cod was very fresh and delicious. The tempura was served fresh out of the fryer it was excellent. We were seated right away and the service was excellent. We were served by the owner, she was very friendly and personable. We will definitely be back sooner this time.
Three years ago: Visited on a Friday 5:30pm. Walked in and we were seated immediately. It was practically empty. We ordered fried oysters as an appetizer. They were delicious 5⭐ Three of us ordered the bento box, chicken cutlet with assorted sashimi and tempura. My Mom ordered the Sashimi plate. All bento boxes came with rice , salad and edamame. The bento was good but for $25 there should have been more. The same can be said about the assorted sashimi it was fresh and good but for $26 I expected more. I went to a restaurant in Santa Clarita last week and ordered the similar dish and it was $10 less. It's definitely not a value restaurant but it was close and we didn't have to...
