This place is located right next to an overpass, making it easy to miss it and hard to find street parking. I donāt think the lot next to the building is theirs so I had to park on the street behind the restaurant.
This is a very small quick service restaurant that you have to use the kiosk to put in your order. They only have 3 two seater tables open with 2 bar stool seats facing the window when I visited. All the other seats were closed off.
This place feels and breathes japanese rice bowl (don) and their menu is pretty simple and straight forward
Salmon poke - 5/5 I honestly donāt know where the salmon came from and how it was stored, but it taste very fresh and has a very nice orange color to it. The cucumbers, tobiko and seaweed salad makes the whole thing taste really good. The lettuce, imitation crab meat and the wasabi was sub par. I got this with 50/50 rice / salad. I would love to see some edamame and maybe some other greens. The yuzu sauce is also really good with the poke.
Veggie Croquette - 6/5 (not a typo) My god is this good. Very crispy outside, a soft mushy inside. This was fried to PERFECTION. This is what Iāve always imagined what frying mashed potatoes on crack would taste like. The katsu sauce is very good for dipping, but itās not as thick or as sharp as you would expect for katsu.
Overall they used some packaged stuff from distributors, but itās definitely worth a try. I will definitely try their other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEverything was good but they misread a substitution. Tried the pork curry for the first time. Not my favorite.
I will be back though however I will be much more explicit in my substitution instructions.
I want to try some of the other things on the menu but so far just the Chirashi Bowl and the Poke.
One other note, there is a second āsimilarā location in Fremont (canāt remember the name off hand). While they are separately owned, they share a web ordering system and menu which can be very confusing. And there is a lot of āfine printā in the web ordering system.
As it turned out, one time, I was able to place an order for pickup when the location I wanted was actually closed. Again lots of āfine printā and i didnāt realize the mistake until I got the email receipt telling me that my order would be ready for pick up the following day. I will say that they made it right and I was able to pick up my order from the Fremont location although there was some grumbling about āreading the web site carefullyā.
Anyway, READ THE FINE PRINT CAREFULLY ON THE WEB ORDERING SYSTEM. It is easy to miss, easy to mis-order and you might end up ordering from a location you hadnāt intended...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust ordered takeout from this place, and it was great. Should have taken some pics, will have to next time. This place is in the same store front as where cutting board used to be, and I liked that place when it was there. This place has been here since March and this was our first time trying them.
My wife and I ordered 2 chirashi bowls and gyoza. We called in the order so that this place got all the $ without Doordash or uber Eats or the like taking their cut. The time we were quoted was super fast, 10min, and when we arrived a little more than 10min later, the food was prepared for pickup. The rice and gyoza still hot! So very good job on time estimates for food prep and speed.
The food itself was awesome. The gyoza honestly was nothing out of this world, pretty standard gyoza, but the chirashi bowls were loaded! Lots of fish between tuna, salmon, eel, shrimp, Albacore, and yellowtail. My wife and I were very pleased. The fish also tasted very fresh!
Overall, we were very happy with this place and will order from them again, one day we may even be able to eat in! Wow! Recommend you...
