My partner and I were super excited for this food experience. At $300 ish for 2 people not including wine was so disappointing. Half of the plants were dying and dry, wine was not good unless you wanted to spend another 150 to 200 for a good bottle other wise a $10 glass of simi drinkable wine. We looked past the little things and thought that because its the last night of the season for feild to table, the experience would be recovered by the food. Mel miranda was our chef for the night preparing a Philippino influenced 4 course dinner. My partner and I were super excited for this food experience. Amuse-Bouche: Albacore Kilawin, Blood Orange Vinaigrette, Marcona Almonds with Lettuce Grow Wasabi Arugula OR Apple & Carrot Crudo, Blood Orange Vinaigrette, Marcona Almonds, Wasabi Arugula (vegetarian)
Albacore was tasteless, we could not find the Vinaigrette flavor it was just albacore with nothing. Apple and carrots again no flavor, picture just eating shaved carrots with nothing on them.
First Course: Cauliflower and Potato Arroz Caldo Congee with Roasted Mushrooms, Fried Garlic, Scallions, Annatto Oil
This was ok, just ok. Reminded me of a bland version of my mom's mexican sopa de albondigas con arroz ( meatball soup with rice)
Second Course: Ginataan na Gulay Roasted Kabocha Squash Puree, Sauteed Long Beans With Our Vegan Bagoong, Roasted Delicata, Fried Shallots
Bland green bean casserole. Nothing more to say, was not great looking.
Third Course: Short Rib Mechado Braised Short Rib, Roasted Tomato And Red Pepper Sauce, Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Heirloom Carrots, Shishitos OR Roasted Cauliflower Mechado Roasted Tomato And Red Pepper Sauce, Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Heirloom Carrots, Shishitos (vegetarian)
My partner had the short rib and I had the Cauliflower option. He said his was ok, not great. Mine I was incredibly dissatisfied, just steamed Cauliflower with some fingerling potatoes no shashitos over no flavor canned tomato sauce. I don't want to be a rude or a hater but trader joes tomato pasta sauce has way more flavor then what this dish had.
Lastly... Fourth Course: Pandan Buttermilk Panna Cotta And Burnt Butter Polvoron By this time I was just really annoyed and was at the very least awaiting to be saved by Panna cotta. My partner got the Panna cotta and I got a rice pudding thing with no flavor again, my partner shared his dessert with me and it was good but not because it was good but because my mouth was looking for anything that could give me some kind of saving grace.
All in all, not happy with the experience, the feild was cool and different in the sense, its just a unique dinning experience but not enough to pay $300 and some. I don't think I'll try this again, the only way I would, is if a chef that we are familiar with would be cooking and even then I would rather just go to...
Read moreWe had the misfortune of trying Brandon Muehl (a joke of a chef) of Ascend Prime Steak & Sushi at Field To Table on Thursday 2/16/2023. My and the other 3 at our table's A5 steaks was pure fat, not even marble, just a piece of freaking fat. To make matters worse, one of the courses was just roasted carrots. The dessert was gross and all ingredients contradict each other: foie gras and ice cream!
The meal overall was an insult to the fine dining industry. Although the presentation was okay, the taste and quality of the food was severely lacking. Service was friendly but slow and inefficient. We were left hungry and disappointed by the end of the night. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere else. (Mind you, we paid $800 for 4 people + additional $$$ for drinks, I'm glad some went to our waitress because she's great!)
P.S: Field to Table did reach out to us after the meal but nothing is being done to compensate for the insulting experience. Avoid at all costs.
We found similar reviews of other people about the same issue of "steaks" were just fat. Seems like Field to Table needs to drop this...
Read moreWe went for the second time last night. Last year, absolutely amazing, which is why we tried again. This year, totally different. We had 2 chefs, which must have been our first mistake. The service was long, and we waited a good amount of time between courses. The first several courses were amazing. The short ribs, main entrée, absolutely horrible. The entire thing was fat. And i mean the whole entire thing. The tables next to us had the same issue. The staff tried to fix it by offering drinks (we already had enough and wanted to be able to drive), so we settled on double desert. While the desert was fantastic, it was the entrée that was wrong, leaving us to only grab more food on the way home. A tiny desert does not proportionally make up for an entrée. This is not a cheap event, and I was hugely disappointed. It was clear which chef was lacking, and while I wanted to make this a yearly tradition, I don't know that we would return. Such a bummer given how wonderful...
