I recently had the pleasure of dining at this amazing gyro joint, and I must say it was an absolute delight! The menu offered a variety of gyro options. The meat was tender and perfectly seasoned, with a delightful char from the grill that added an extra layer of flavor. The pita bread was soft and warm, serving as the ideal vessel for this gyro masterpiece. What truly set this gyro joint apart, however, was their selection of fresh and vibrant toppings. The tzatziki sauce was creamy and tangy, the tomatoes and cucumbers were crisp and bursting with freshness, and the onions added a lovely touch of crunch and bite. Every bite was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The portion size was generous, making it a great value for the price. And if you're a fan of Greek cuisine, you'll be pleased to know that they also offer delectable sides and sweets. The friendly and attentive staff (Tomas is great!) added to the overall positive impression of the place. They were happy to explain the menu, offer recommendations, and ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of fantastic. In conclusion, gyro heroes is a hidden gem that deserves all the praise it can get. If you're in the mood for mouthwatering gyros that transport your taste buds straight to the Mediterranean, this place is a must-visit. I'll definitely be returning soon to savor more of their...
Read moreIf you've lived in West Seattle, you most likely are still in mourning over the departure of the Kokoras after Spiros & Demetra left to retire in Greece. Their lamb was awesome, with its flavorful very thin sliced mountain of meat placed on your pita or plate. Well. They are gone and time to move on. Gyro Heros has a very friendly staff in a nicely remodeled Baskin and Robbins that provides several favorites that are very good. While not Kokoras, the meat is well flavored and they provide a generous portion of meat in their gyros. Their Greek fries are not to be missed - plentiful in garlic and feta. Their Baklavah is a bit different than many places I've had or made. It's a single layer of filling and the desert is just slightly sweet, making it refreshing as well as nice for folks who maybe dont care for the desert because they usually are very sweet. I wouldnt hesitate to be a repeat customer. The old saying of "do you want it fresh, good or fast - pick 2" applies here. Expect to wait a bit after your order. I'm fine with that. I have several places I go to that I know to not go to when I'm pressed for a very quick in and out at fast food speed, yet revisit all the time because of the quality. Parking is limited, sharing the lot with Starbucks. This is probably the biggest negative, but its...
Read moreAfter getting past some slight communication issues, as much mine as anyone else's, I was served a terrific gyro and side of Greek fries, with the garlic sauce, feta, and parsley. The pita was delicious and fresh, as were the veg toppings. The beef/lamb meat is a little salty, which is mitigated somewhat by the tzatziki. I've never been a fan of the pressed meat that seems to be the only thing ever done in restaurants in the US. The little Greek restaurant in Germany where I acquired my taste for gyros would stack cuts of meat, onions, and peppers onto the spit and shave off of that. It is so far superior to this chopped and pressed meat, I never understand why at least one local shop would do it that way. Those Greek fries though!! THEY should be the French fry addiction at Mariners games. The same strong garlic hit (a mint won't suffice afterwards) without the raw, chopped garlic. And feta. They are my new addiction.
Things got a little crowded around the door, and the tables and chairs needed a wipe-down, but it was at the height of the lunch rush. I thought I stated clearly my desire to have my meal to go, but they served me on a tray, and I wasn't really in a rush so it wasn't an issue. Be certain to clearly state your preferences and have it confirmed...
