This was a restaurant I have loved in the past. Celebrated my birthday party here, lots of date nights here, have recommended it to many, many people here in West Seattle. I will NEVER go here again. You have lost my business and I will tell everyone to go to Mio Posto (which I hear is amazing) down the street. Heck, you'd get better customer service from Sbarro in a mall food court. I ordered a pizza and salad through grub hub tonight. Pizza was delivered 40 minutes late, was cold and they sent the wrong salad. When I called Pizzeria 22, I was told it wasn't their fault and I needed to call Grub Hub. They also told me the pizza was sitting there for 30 minutes waiting to be picked up. Do they not have any pride on what they serve? I explained how frustrated I was that my pizza was completely cold and that they sent the wrong salad. On top of that, the romaine on the salad was pink and wilted...and it's caesar salad which I am allergic to. The young guy who answered the phone was very nice and tried talking with the "manager" of the restaurant. I could hear their entire conversation. The "manager" (sounded like an older guy) did not care about the situation at all. He didn't have the courtesy to even get on the phone...instead he sounded like an a-hole to this poor kid and didn't offer an apology for the wrong salad that THEY sent. They blamed the cold pizza on the delivery guy which is probably true and not why I called. My main issue with them was the wrong salad which the delivery guy told me to call the restaurant. I am not one who posts negative reviews and I get the pressure that small businesses are under but I have totally written off this restaurant. On a Sunday night, I can't imagine the "manager" not having the time to apologize for their mistake or offer a free salad next time I come to dine. I get grub hub is potentially at fault for the cold pizza but the "manager" needs to be fired for his...
Read moreI post this review with a heavy heart- I've been a longtime proponent of Pizzeria 22 as the best Neapolitan pizza in Seattle. My mother is an Italian immigrant and I've brought others from Italy here and gotten a consistent consensus that it's the best. But something seems to have happened in the last few months, and there's been a significant decline in quality of the core pizzas I use as the metric.
I still think P22 does the best Neapolitan crust in town. But I used to recommend everyone get the Magherita DOC that uses Mozzarella di Bufala- it's the best item on the menu by such a margin that it's hard to order anything else.
Recently, it switched from Mozzarella di Bufala (rich, buffalo milk based mozzarella) to using Burrata (a stracciatella cream stuffed mozzarella), I assume for cost saving. But this is way too wet and creates a soggy pizza. Three times now, a server has tried to convince me that it is "basically the same" as the old Margherita DOC, and it's definitely not. Other people I've sent in blind also reported it being too soggy.
So, I went back to the regular Margherita instead of the DOC and...again, something was off. I'm not sure if something has changed in the tomatoes or mozzarella they're using, but it tasted way less rich than it usually is. The mozzarella was kinda hard/chewy and the tomatoes weren't standout like I'm used to here, and I had to apologize to my friend I'd been hyping Pizzeria 22 up to as the best Margherita in town.
They've also been out of the Tiramisu the last two times I tried to order it 😅
I hesitated to write this review, but I've tested a few times to confirm that it wasn't just a bad day, and each experience has been more disappointing than the last.
Fingers crossed it can get back to it's old glory, but I'm no longer confident in recommending it as the best Neapolitan style pizza in...
Read moreWe came here tonight to eat 11/17/2021. We were seated and then asked to show our vax cards. My wife had gotten a negative test, I am fully vaccinated, I mentioned my wife is a Russian National and she just returned a day ago. The host said she was unsure on the mandate, I explained it was vax card or a negative COVID-19 test. She expressed she didn't know the rules and she went in the back to ask if negative test results are allowed. She came back and told us to leave. We left. My wife looked up the mandate on the county website and sent it to me. I went back in and explained , "you can refuse service to me, but this is the mandate and my wife is within the perimeters." After I told her this the host got agitated and did I was wrong and that they don't go by that mandate. I said, there's no reason to get upset, I simply want you to know that the law states my wife is allowed to legally be here and eat inside. She raised her voice and started shouting, she reached out to grab my arm. I asked her to not reach for my arm and she then told me to leave, I left. But not before stating that she doesn't know my wife's medical history or if she is Immune-compromised or not and that a negative test shows we've taken logical and effective steps to not spread a deadly virus during a global pandemic. I left and we went to talliceros down the street and there was zero harassment at the door when we showed my vax card and my wife's negative test result.
I'm a black man and my wife is a Russian National. (For context)
And ya can call me Karen all y'all want, the fact of the matter is the host IS KAREN and she know damn well she was wrong and when I came back in and politely showed her the mandate on the king county website she got extremely upset and...
