This spot has quickly become my favorite boba tea spot in the area. Since its soft opening a couple of weeks ago, I have gone back three times to try half a dozen drinks. Every drink so far has surprised me in a good way.
Their classic milk tea is the right mix of tea and milk and what you would expect to get from a good boba tea shop. One of those āit hits the spotā type drinks. Their coffee-based drinks donāt skimp on the coffee. You get the taste and the buzz. I expect a green powdered drink whenever I order a melon milk tea. I donāt mind when I do (because they tend to have a consistent flavor), but the one from here made me audibly go āmmmmmā. Real melon pulp, full melon flavor, with milk tea as the perfect accompaniment. Note - I happen to be one of those who love sugar with my milk tea, so I get the less ice and full sugar option.
I feel like my expectations for boba are pretty standard. Soft, chewy, and not stuck together are all I ask for. What I didnāt expect was homemade boba from scratch! Iāve had the regular boba, taro boba, and the ube boba. There are subtle differences between each. The texture is the perfect chewiness, the right sweetness, and stays relatively soft even after sitting in the fridge. Iām afraid that āregularā boba is going to start tasting inferior to me. š
I have a feeling this spot is going to become super popular once Summer hits, and Iāll be both sad (for me) but happy for the shop because I hope it means that it becomes a permanent fixture of that shopping center. Iām already looking forward to my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went during their soft opening, paid via venmo as they were in the process of setting up the POS. They accept cash ( the sign on the door must be from the previous business). There are boxes around and no wifi therefore I got the drink and left.
There are large center tables and bar seating towards the window. The place has cute chandeliers and a grass/flower wall.
The 16 oz drink I got became 2/3 full after 5 minutes ( see video , proof that the top lid was sealed). The foam settled. It was on the sweeter side.
The price point for the bac sew/bƔc siu/xiu is on par with coffeeholic/ hello em/phin but expensive if you are comparing to a banh mi shop.
Since it is a soft opening, I would be willing to go back but probably go for their tea based drinks . I think this place is probably 4-5 stars once I try something else. The staff there were friendly and trying their best!
The location is right off Madison and near safeway which has parking. This place is perfect if you transit since the bus stop is literally in front...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHyson Boba Tea and Cafe on Madison is a gem. I ordered the Tiramisu Milk Tea with Raspberry Boba and it was absolutely delicious, a perfect balance of rich flavor with a playful fruitiness from the boba. I also tried the Braised Pork Banh Mi and it was equally impressive, with tender, flavorful pork and fresh, crisp vegetables in a perfectly toasted baguette.
The atmosphere here is warm and inviting, with thoughtful decor that makes the space feel both stylish and comfortable. It is the kind of place where you can relax and enjoy your drink or meal while taking in the charm of the surroundings. The staff were kind and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience.
I will definitely be coming back and recommending Hyson to friends. It is an excellent spot for anyone looking for high quality drinks, satisfying food, and a welcoming...
