So this is what I wrote to Ivar's --- "While the ladies were great at the front counter, there was a staff (A man) that was on the floor the whole time I was there running his mouth to a couple sitting/eating there meal. He couldn't help out the rest of the staff working there as he was steady running his mouth"/And this was the response I received back --- "Dear Mr. Stenson,
I am truly sorry that I was out front speaking with customers in a friendly and engaging manner on my day off. I was truly glad to see my guest as he has had some health and mobility issues and wanted him to feel that he was wanted, missed and that I was truly glad to see him and his caregiver. I was only sorry I had not seen him earlier as I would have bought them lunch and possibly spent more time with him, he is truly an amazing man and has been in Seattle for over 90 years. I find his take on life and what is going on in the little area we live in, to matter to me. As to the girls and employees needing my help, I assure you they were more than able to take care of the guests and were probably glad I was not in the way of them doing the excellent job that they do each and every day they work. So while you let me know that you were not happy with me, it is evident that you agree my staff is wonderful and I appreciate the confidence in them that you have shown, I will make sure that the ladies and gentleman that were working know that their work is above reproach and that it is noticed. Thank you for you critique and have a wonderful week, please join us to celebrate Ivar’s birthday this week and have a great day". Paul S. Read moreLet me start off by saying that I have never written a review before, but this experience deserved one. We were visiting out of town from Portland for the Emerald City Comic Con. Once we got to the ordering area, a nice kid with long hair took my girlfriends order, my girlfriend asked if we were interrupting a birthday party because of the decorations, the worker with a smile answered back that nope were not interrupting it’s actually just decorated for Ivar (the company creator) birthday is actually on the 19th and he would be 114. So far in this experience this worker showed me better customer service than any other fast food experience before, and what was nice was that he seemed to genuinely enjoy his job.
I asked him how the Salmon chowder was and he quickly said “Would you like to try some, I love it, but you never know” — THIS SAMPLE WAS DELICIOUS.
So I matched my girlfriends order, she got Clam chowder in a bread bowl and I got the salmon in a bread bowl.
He made small talk with us before telling us that he would bring our food out when it’s ready.
About 5 minutes the owner/chef/guy brought over our food extremely friendly.
LET ME TELL YOU this food was absolutely delicious and worth every penny. I highly recommend that you support these awesome people because in my experience they care about...
Read moreWe visited this Ivar's location for lunch while on a family trip to the Seattle area. For 3 adults, 2 kids and a toddler (toddler shared our food), it was a little over $100. Was it worth that?
The fish was delicious, the fries didn't taste very fresh, the calamari was completely grease soaked, and the chower was just okay. Out of the 3 cups of chowder ordered, 1 of them was extremely watery (like it was skimmed off the top of the pot).
The 3 adults in our party shared the family meal, and it didn't come with baskets/plates so we used napkins as plates. Not a huge deal, but it felt a little primitive lol
The building itself seemed a little rundown, but we ate outside and the patio area was pleasant. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful while ordering.
This is definitely not the worst place to eat, but I don't know as if we would return to this Ivar's...
