Super cool cafe that serves authentic German pastries and bites. The coffee was good, but the girl at the register seemed a little... ditzy (I asked her what was in a specific type of coffee, I think it was a macchiato, and she struggled to give me an answer). We could not get the WiFi to work, so we both used my phone as a hot spot (which is fine by me, but always a little frustrating when there's poor internet service).
I do have one gripe that will probably prevent me from coming back here. We had never been here before so we weren't aware of the early closing time (closes at 5:30). Right before closing someone walked in and asked for a coffee, but the barista told the woman that her espresso machine was disassembled (or something like that) so she couldn't do any espresso drinks. A podcast had been playing the entire time which I thought was both peculiar and a little distracting, versus having music played like every other cafe I've been to. Around 5:30 the podcast got a little louder, enough to notice but not loud enough to complain about it. Maybe 5-10 minutes later she turned it up loud enough that it was almost comparable to music in a club, like, I'm not kidding, I could barely hear my friend talking. It was at this point that I kind of put it all together that the place was closing, after I watched the barista just standing around talking behind the counter with another employee (obviously not on the clock) and not working.
It's comical at how passive aggressive and rude her way of letting us know the cafe was closed was. I'm perfectly happy when people come up to me and say something to the effect of "sorry, we're closed but we reopen at __ tomorrow". Turning up your podcast loud enough to make your customers leave without having the decency or professionalism to go over and politely let them know? Wow, extremely rude and I would never let my employees behave that way if I...
Read moreI was sitting here writing a 1-star review because I was crazy disappointed, but then my latte FINALLY came (20 minutes later. I'm telling you. I looked at the time.) and it was really good. The food would have been good if the girl had offered to warm it for me--as it was it was hard and cold and about 1% as good as it would have been warm. She just seemed so flustered when she was ringing me up. She said "ugh! I have to do dishes." I guess the dishes are more important than me... Anyway, luckily I had 20 minutes to wait. It was so busy when I got there that there were exactly zero places to sit. So I stood and ate my appletauche, until some people left. They didn't bus their table though so I did it for them--so I could sit down. There is obviously enough business here to pay for someone watching the lobby to do that so your customers don't have to. I'm fine with bussing my own table, and I know it's bit your fault that your duchebag customers don't bus their own, but it is a cheap owners fault that they're shorthanded. Regardless, I had ordered a "16 oz whole milk latte in a mug" so as to not waste a cup. When the barista called-out a "grande latte" in a paper cup I wasn't going to take it--it didn't sound like what I had ordered. She looked at me disdainfully and asked what I ordered and I told her. She said that was my drink and she would pour it into a mug if I wanted. Goodness sakes people. With all your signs around about recycling you'd think you'd pay attention when someone orders something in a mug? I guess someone along the way could have told me that "16oz whole milk latte" translates to "grande latte" at this coffee shop, but they seemed happier just being jerks. Ok guys, go ahead and be jerks to other people. I'd rather go to starbucks (I...
Read moreRecieved pretty poor service. Ordered a small Breve, a warm biscuit, and one of their sandwiches.
Woman behind the counter had a bit of a thousand yard stare, and was busy doing something when she also instructed us to give us her order. We gave our order. And she printed a receipt- wasn't for us sense she threw it away, and walked away promptly after.
When she came back, she asked us to say that all again, intterupting us to put in what she had heard of our order and ask questions (asked to heat the sandwich, but not the biscuit?). Ultimately asked us what type of sandwhich we'd picked up three times.
Also handed me a positively frozen butter after, rather than asking, inserted I had requested a butter. I wanted one but her way of double checking was off and really forceful.
Anyways, turns out she rung us up for the 16oz breve (the largest) even though we specified otherwise- to be fair we might have missed it the second time she asked us because she interrupted me about the sandwhich.
To add the cherry on top for a poor experience, breve was a little too bitter for us today, not their fault, but they were very catty about giving sugar when we noticed there was none on the counter and requested some if they had any.
Disappointing trip, will not be coming back, and adding insult to injury we can totally see a great boba place out the open door. Still pretty sore about the breve and eating a biscuit with frozen butter on the way home.
(As a bonus, I saw the girl making the coffees have to renake several. She was polite enough aside from getting sort of catty about the sugar, but otherwise seems she makes mistakes often. At least one was a customer changing their mind though so, fifty fifty half dozen...
