Kidd Valley — Restaurant in Seattle

Fabulous meal -- just exquisite -- almost perfectly ideal American-burger-joint dining! The menu has ... Gosh ... Just, everything that represents classic down-home cookin' on the backyard BBQ, Pacific-Northwest style, ranging from thick juicy grilled burgers, to Burger-Dip sandwiches with au jus, crispy chicken sandwiches or fish sandwiches, fish and chips, garden burger, vegan burger or mushroom burger... Can you think of another kind of burger/sandwich to offer?!? Oh wait -- they did -- they have a club sandwich, too! Amazing, right?!? And the side-selections are equally varied and scrumptious, including: fries, sweet-potato fries, garlic fries, mushrooms (random, right?!?), and onion rings (how long has it been since you've seen onion rings on a menu?!?). You can slurp this all down with a classic cola or a delectable shake (personally, I think combining half pineapple and half boysenberry makes for the most blissfully refreshing and temperately indulgent quencher of thirst when enjoying a rich hearty meal -- or even on its own when enjoying rich hearty moments of all kinds!). I must say, however, the menu DOES fall short of truly ideal perfection -- it's missing pie -- if it only had pie, I would say, "BRAVO! Good show! Any critique have I? Heavens NO! BRAVO!" But, it doesn't have pie -- therefore, I say, instead, "My oh my, it's to die for -- TO DIE! And I would... But, can't lie... If only...

Apparently my boyfriend and I arrived at this particular Kidd Valley when they were closing 9 pm sharp. The employees could've easily said "sorry, we're closed." However, the cook said he'd take our order shortly. Yet a different employee attended to us -- a large male with a beer belly, grey-ish buzz cut, wears glasses, and had an obvious facial expression in contempt. The cook starts to turn on the fryer. So it was $14 for a Hawaiian basket meal & deep fried mushrooms. And there were 3 seperate groups of people behind us in line. As we were waiting for our food, I went to use the bathroom. Boyfriend tells the cashier he was going to smoke a cigarette. I came out of the bathroom, looked over at the counter to see if our food was done. Went to join my partner. Well the food was taking rather long. The cashier didn't bother to go looking for us. So my boyfriend went back to check on our food. And the a**hole cashier gave our $14 meal to the person behind us. The cashier didn't even apologize to us. Even the guy behind us was kind enough to apologize, but can't blame him for taking the offer of "free food." Finally drove off and the food was under cooked. Burger, French fries, and deep fried mushrooms were soggy as hell. I implore you to never come here late at night! What a waste of...

I love their double bacon cheese burger with grilled onions, a large order of wallawalla onion rings, some deep fried mushrooms and a boysenberry shake. Add in the fact that you are in one of the nicest communities in the region. The Wallingford, Green Lake, Freemont and Phinney Ridge convergencezone is without a doubt one of my top 10 neighborhoods in the country and I am always taken back by the way that area changes so dramatically each time I'm there but some how retains it's simple recognizable beauty blended with the quirky nature of the residence and business owners. This kid valley location has stood the test of time in this ever changing and dynamic neighborhood and that is a testimony to the enduring nature of the ownership all of the staff past and present and the great fair that they offer to the people of this region. The day that kidde valley is no longer in this location will be a truly sad day for me and thousands of others that grew up going here after baseball games, a trip to the zoo, or just a day swimming at the lake and playing put put golf.
