I just wanted to share my experience that I had at the Ballard mighty o the other day. I walked in to pick up an order of donuts for my office I work at (as requested by my boss, she had placed and paid for the order over the phone.) As my coworker and I walked up to the counter and told the employees we had a pick up order under our doctors name. The manager Katie immediately snapped at us, with a lot of attitude, saying she didnât have any orders until 7:30 and that it would at least take an hour to brew the coffee. I told her we were only getting donuts not coffee. As the male employee tried to say something she immediately put her hand in his face to stop him from talking and snapped back saying âwhat is your order number then?â We told her we didnât have an order number just a name and she said âWHATS THE NAME!â We told her for a second time and again and she rudely responded âwrite it downâ and shoved a note pad forward. As she went to the back my coworker and I immediately looked at each other and said âwow she must hate her jobâ. When she came back she said (again very rudely) âwe donât have anything for that name since 2017!, You donât have an order number?!?!â We said we didnât as our boss didnât give us one. We asked if she could see if itâs under [company name] instead? She looked at us dead in the eye and repeated slowly like we were stupid and didnât hear her âSHE. HASN'T. PLACED. AN. ORDER. SINCE. TWENTY. SEVEN. TEEN!â At this point I was so fed up with how she was talking to us, I looked at her back in her eyes and I said âI. get. that. Can you check under [company name]?â I then said âI donât understand why you are being so rudeâ she said âYou donât have an order number or anything?!?â And I said âYou are being completely unprofessional and rude right now! And it is absolutely uncalled forâ She looked at me and laughed and turned around to go to the back. I was livid. I just didnât understand how someone in the customer service industry could be so blatantly rude and be speaking to us like this. Iâve never felt so disrespected in my life. I have been in customer service for many many years and I wouldnât ever have spoken anyone like this. When she came back out she said (a lot nicer this time) âwe actually have an order for tomorrow but could put it together in 30minâ. We had to get to work so we said someone would come back to get them. I am not expecting anyone to get fired over this but I would hope that this manager would be severely talked to about how she is speaking to customers and be told that this is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. My coworker and I are 25 and 24 so we do look young and I feel maybe this is why she was speaking to us in this manner. But I donât care what age you are no one should ever be spoken to the way Katie spoke to us. I am glad I said something, I could see I caught her off guard like sheâs done this before and no one has spoken back to her like I did. She needed to know that she canât talk to people like that and get away with it.
I wanted to share this because it was the worst customer service experience Iâve ever had and I would hope it wouldnât happen to anyone else no matter who they are or how...

I frequently stop in with my two little boys for a sweet treat or as a special reward for them. Unfortunately our last trip will mark the end of our patronage until their nonsensical "policies" are changed. 10/2 My 4 year old was denied use of the toilet because the restroom is "closed to the public". I pushed back that HEY GUYS... I'M NOT "THE PUBLIC", I'M A CUSTOMER. This was an emergency situation and could have been disastrous had he not been able to hold it until we reached home (loyal heights). Thankfully he did!
I called the following day and spoke to an assistant-manager who was apologetic, trying his best to make me understand that their "upper management" make these policies (for COVID safety) and wanted to offer me complimentary items to compensate the inconvenience. NO. That isn't the point! You're making your customers into the enemy. That's wrong!!
Here's a thought- What would you have done if he'd had an accident in your store because you wouldn't let him use the toilet? Answer- You'd be cleaning his urine off the floor instead of doing your usual cleaning of the restroom. đ€
As a buisness owner working in Healthcare, I understand COVID concerns but also am very aware that properly sanitizing surfaces along with mask requirements will keep your buisness safe for EVERYONE. You can't treat your customers like that and expect they'll keep returning. We will have to find a new go-to as long as these kind of "policies" are in effect. Sorry boys, no...
