Ok, I'll start by saying that the service itself was great, friendly and incredibly fast for it being lunch hour. It's a really tiny place that can only accommodate a few small groups at a time with their bar seating. The prices are really good and the portions are more than generous. I came here at the suggestion of a friend at UW. I love sushi so I'm always looking for new places to try. I got two inari sushi, a Cali roll and the smoked salmon and cream cheese roll. At first I was kind of bummed to see these weren't inside out rolls (just a personal preference, I like my rice on the outside, no big deal though), but the salmon that was supposed to be smoked salmon tasted just like really dry, normal salmon. The crab salad was also pretty dry in the Cali roll as well. The rice used isn't really seasoned either so the flavors felt really bland and smelled noticeably vinegary. I had a bottle of eel sauce and some tobiko at home I tried to use to kind of space it up, but it still fell flat. To me sushi rice is really important in maki sushi and it just isn't present here. The price is great if you want satisfactory sushi in quantity, but what you get in quantity you loose in quality. I wanted to like it and it was really promising, but Seattle has a lot of better sushi options if you're a big fan of flavors. I can't speak for the sashimi or nigiri quality because I didn't try it this time, but the rolls I had just didn't satisfy what I was looking for. The inari was ok, but only because the tofu pouches were seasoned, which offset some of the blandness of the rice.

Some of the finest, freshest fish around which makes each chirashi bowl so wonderful. I think the go-to order here is a chirashi bowl, customized to your liking or don't customize and get an assortment of sashimi. Salmon, tuna, yellowtail, albacore, unagi, shrimp, shrimp, and roe are included, but you can specify only select ones and you'll get the same amount of fish but less variety for yourself.

When I first came, I wanted to try everything. I've tried the harusame salad, some skewers, various sushi rolls, a chirashi bowl, and a chicken teriyaki plate but have now changed to only the chirashi. Everything is solid, but the chirashi just can't be beat whereas everything else can be found elsewhere. Always ask for some spicy mayo on the side too!

The rolls are solid with help from the amazing fish they serve, but they aren't too special compared to other places. I don't like how they use skewers for the teriyaki plates because it's an extra step for me when eating, but tastes amazing. Once again though, the chirashi bowl is the star of the show and I haven't found many other chirashi bowls that compare. A chirashi is so simple, sushi rice with fish and ginger, but they do it so well here.

Like a few others here, the cashier during COVID can sound a bit annoyed at times and grumpy but he listens well and takes your order right. Service used to be super friendly before COVID when dining in, but I understand it's super busy here and he can get frustrated being the only cashier dealing with who knows what...

I don’t know how anyone would rate this place above 3 stars. After I paid they told me they were out of Saba nigiri. I had ordered 2 and they asked me if I wanted to exchange for something else. I said a spicy tuna roll but they said that I would have to pay extra. It was $0.80 more for the roll than the sushi. Most places would just comp it because it was their mistake. I’ve never been in a restaurant that wouldn’t do that. Not a big deal but just a lack of customer service. This food is absolutely disgusting. The eel roll tasted like it had been left out for a day. Eel shouldn’t smell like old fish. It also was mealy. The salmon cheese roll was made with canned salmon that had a not so fresh taste and extremely dry texture. The maki in general had way too much rice and way too little fish. The rice was also super dense and smashed together and overly wet. Not good. The salmon nigiri was slimy and not fresh Yellowtail nigiri was a solid 6/10. It was buttery but slightly fishy and the rice was not good. I guess I can see why some people like the nigiri/sashimi here but it just didn’t taste anything extraordinary to me Still beside myself. Probably the worst sushi...
