Add Lazy Cow Bakery & Cafe to your must-visit list of Seattle vegan restaurants! This gem is located in Fremont and has excellent drinks, delicious pastries, and breakfast & lunch options. They are a welcoming and inclusive place to all, have a gorgeous space, and are very community-focused. The space also serves as an art and music venue, is woman-owned, and gives back so much to the community. I got their PSL (iced) and their “Spooky Pumpkin” croissant this visit and they were both sooooo good! Everything is vegan and so delicious - give them a visit next time you are in Fremont! #seattle #seattlecoffee #seattlevegan #veganrestaurants #vegantravel #veganfood #seattlefoodie #veganbakery #vegancafe #seattletiktok #vegansoftiktok #seattlefood #spookyvegan #seattletiktok #womenownedbusiness #supportsmallbusiness #vegan #veganseattle

I was drawn to trying this new place out because it was organic and vegan friendly. It was a big disappointment all around and I will not return a second time. I got the hummus with jalapeño sandwich, which sounded good, was recommended by the owner, at the counter, and I was given two pieces of sourdough bread with a very thin layer of hummus, a few thin slices of jalapeños and cucumbers, and a few pieces of limp, small, haphazard greens thrown on. This sandwich was 12.00 US, was not worth the high cost at all, and was totally ungenerous in its portion for the money charged, was far more paultry and small than the picture on the sign menu, and although I was going to dine at a table, it was served to me in a bag (to go), not on a plate. The table available had what appeared to be dried, caked on oatmeal or some other lumpy food that had been spilled by a previous customer, it seemed quite a while ago, and had obviously been allowed to remain on the table for hours. The table had obviously not been cleaned between diners or in quite some time. I had to put the paper from the sandwich down on the table, because I was not given a plate, to prevent the sandwich from being contaminated by the dirty table. The “clean” forks were made available in a plastic cup, fork side up, had water spots, making them appear unclean, and everyone who needed a fork had to handle all the forks to get one out of the cup, touching all the forks. There is not a lot of attention paid here to sanitary, safe conditions. I also had a very small, tortilla sized mini vegan pizza, 5.00 US which was dried out and crusty and lacked flavor and which had appeared to be sitting out for hours. The one non disappointment was a fresh, cold smoothie with spinach, pineapple, and bananas. Although that was tasty, the price for a 16 ounce cup, 9.00 US, was a bit high for what you got. I felt that the owner, who took my order, did not have good people skills or skills at hospitality, and just the overall experience is not something I will repeat ever again and I’m sharing my experience here so that no one else has to go through that or spend their time or lots of money, unnecessarily, trying this place out. Besides the dirty table, this place has very little atmosphere. HERE IS MY RECOMMENDATION: if you are in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle and want some good food, much of which is organic, and which has a great selection for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores, walk one block from this lackluster, overpriced cafe, to 34th St, and go to the PCC, Puget Consumers Co-op, where the food is clean, fresh, plentiful, and you can find a myriad of prepared foods, self-served, including cold and hot buffet bars, soup bar, wrapped fresh sandwiches, a deli case with numerous salads, a pizza bar, and a huge variety of bottled, organic juices, and many other beverages, and it is community owned. It has an upbeat atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff, who are on the ball, and they have a number of tables, which are maintained, both inside and outside, in a covered area, for rain, and you will definitely be more satisfied, satiate your hunger, and get your money’s worth.

EDIT: Realizing I should update this review. After getting home I ended up calling and asking for the cake to be re-iced. The owner did happen to be around at that time and made me a completely new cake that looked much better (pink cake photo - ignore the bite taken out of it LOL) So all in all it ended up fine, but leaving at 3 stars because these two cakes look very different which is a quality/consistency issue I am sad to write a small business a bad review, but unfortunately others should be aware of this. I ordered a custom pink cake for my friend’s birthday for $60. The cake made is this blue-ish color instead because they “didn’t have the pink I asked for.” I was never contacted to be asked what color I might prefer, which seems very strange. Why not go with white? Blue is the antithesis of pink Lol. Also my friend “Taylor” had her name spelled wrong on the cake. Not a huge deal, and I was offered “some free pastries” as compensation, but really feel like it should have been partially refunded or re-iced. Not the end of the world; it’s cake. But if you are ordering a cake to a theme, beware that you may not get what you’re asking for. The person at the register was very nice though and did feel bad

A very sad thing happened to me when I arrived there from Portland - they forgot to prepare half of the pastries I ordered for the child's birthday...

I came by train from Portland just to pick it up and then leave on the next train which takes 3 hours one way...

I ordered the items on Wednesday and called again on Thursday to make sure they would prepare the order and also I let them know the exact time when I would arrive there... I arrived at 4.30 and was told only sorry... they gave me just the half of my order and did not even try to do anything to solve the problem.. all they kept repeating is sorry... how about taking a responsibility and being proactive? They did not offer a free substitute with something else nor they offered any other better alternative such as sending it to me by train next morning or asking a different place to make it for me or anything else.... that's what good business do - solve the problem and look for new ways to deal with any unexpected situation.... they repeated sorry 10 times but their gestures and posture expressed the lack of care..... when I looked at the pastries I received, they did-not even cut off stems of the strawberries on the tarts... so careless

They refunded me for what was missing ( which was expected) and i rode back home... I was very devastated having no idea where I would get the rest of the vegan pastries for the child's birthday party... I don't even want to share the rest of the story when the kid learnt there won't be the pastries she wanted to have......

Honestly, their mission statement is everything but the good customer service, quality work or consistent...

The focaccia pesto sandwich makes me go crazy.

Also, they have such a wonderful selection of vegan pastries! If you come in early they got cookies, breads, croissants (ham and cheese croissant is amazing get that if they have it), fruit tarts, brownies, and a bunch of other things. My favorite sweet is the strawberry shortcake! The shortcake bread is just like the non-vegan kind.

I think the food comes from a small little kitchen which is why they have such a small stock. Make sure you come early if you want a variety of options.

I haven't tried the cake cakes yet, they're a bit pricey, but they look adorable. Like cartoon food with lil candied cherries on top! I'll be getting one on the next special occassion for sure.

The coffee is also really good. I like the oatmilk they use.

They also have a food pantry with mostly vegan food if you're stuggling, it's very nice that they have that for the community. Free menstrual products in the bathroom. It's just a nice place with nice people.

A few weeks ago I watched a dude from outside punch in a window with his raw fist and shower a customer with glass which was wild and it seems to have put the business out since they haven't been able to replace the glass yet. The little business did not deserve a punch ed window so definitely support them.

Great vegan cafe, wonderful place to work, study, or hang out...
