I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Kamakura Japanese Cuisine in Seattle, and as a vegetarian, I was blown away by their outstanding and a huge selection of vegan offerings (They have a separate vegan menu ). From the delicious sushi rolls to the flavorful fried rice, yakisoba noodles, and sake cocktails, Kamakura truly exceeded my expectations.
We tried the Jalaspicy premium vegan roll 4.5/5 which were a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with fresh flavors. The combination of plant-based ingredients and traditional Japanese techniques resulted in a symphony of tastes and textures. A sweet-spicy sauce was drizzled over the roll that added to the flavor.
The vegan fried rice 3/5/5 was okay - it could have used more flavors and spices. The rice was perfectly cooked and a generous portion of vegetables and tofu made it a fulfilling dish.
The yakisoba noodles 5/5 were a highlight of my dining experience. The tender noodles were stir-fried to perfection and paired with a medley of fresh vegetables. The savory sauce elevated the dish, making it a flavorful and comforting choice. The contrasting textures of veggies made each bite a delightful experience. It was a hearty and satisfying option that I would highly recommend.
We also tried their curry rice,4/5 - I am not a fan of vegan Japanese curry but enjoyed their version. The curry sauce was perfectly balanced and paired excellently with the fluffy rice. The addition of vegetables provided a delightful crunch and added depth to the dish.
To complete the meal, we indulged in their sake cocktails. The bartenders showcased their expertise by blending premium sake with creative flavors of lychee and peach resulting in a harmonious fusion of taste sensations.
Overall, Kamakura Japanese Cuisine impressed me with their dedication to delivering authentic Japanese flavors in their vegan offerings. The quality of the food, paired with the artful presentation, made for a great dining experience. If you're a vegan or simply looking for outstanding Japanese cuisine, Kamakura is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFive stars for the food but significantly less for the service. Iāve been here three times and there has been something off about the service each time. The staff is very nice but it seems like theyāre still working out how to navigate how popular the restaurant has gotten. The first time I visited, they promised a 20 minute wait but it ended up being over an hour. I went back inside a few times to politely check on the status but each time the staff reassured me it would only be a few more minutes. I just wish they had been honest/realistic. The second time I went, I didnāt receive half of the items I ordered because apparently last call had happened while our server was taking our order (which happens electronically). I was the last to order so I guess thatās why I was the only one affected. I wasnāt informed of this until I had sat waiting for the rest of my food for some time while my friends continued eating and asked our server about it. Iām not sure why the restaurant sat us if they couldnāt fully serve us. My friends ended up giving me some of their food because the restaurant never apologized or offered me something (anything) else to eat. On my third visit, the service was significantly better than the first two times but was still meh. Iāll probably keep coming back occasionally because the food is AMAZING but I do hope they can get their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt like doing this, but this just isnāt the sort of experience I feel comfortable letting slide.
I placed a pick up order with Kamakura, but when my girlfriend went to pick it up, the server refused to give it to her. I ended up having to walk down myself to get it. When I did, the server was rude and dismissive the entire time. He also misgendered my girlfriend several times. I politely corrected him the first time. The second time, I corrected him again, and he responded by shrugging and saying āokay.ā When I asked why he needed to see my email confirmation, even though my girlfriend knew the full order and the name it was under, he responded, āyou have your food now.ā Itās was especially frustrating because he didnāt seem to know where to look for the confirmation number on my order email or the slip. Iāve also never been asked for a confirmation order while picking up food from them in the past. I hate to think that he was hassling us just because my partner didnāt look straight enough, but š¤·āāļø
Iām a little blown away, honestly. Iāve been living in Seattle for almost a decade and this is the first time Iāve run into something this nakedly hostile. I wish I could say something more positive, but Iād recommend...
