i am so proud of my husband, Zack Reinig, the owner of Union Coffee. this beautiful little shop is bright, happy, clean, and full of smiles. it's only been open for a week, but it's already a sweet little community spot, and i can't wait to see what it becomes.
Zack has been making me delicious coffee every morning for seven years, and this shop is really an extension of his most attentive, tweaky, gregarious, and passionate self.
Zack was a record producer and sound engineer in the independent music industry for 15 years working with bands like Built to Spill, Black Heart Procession, Blonde Redhead, Sleater-Kinney and the Shins, and brought an intense passion to the build-out of the space. the ceiling is audio engineered for perfect music listening experiences, and Zack is hoping to spend some evenings every month playing music in the loft, and inviting people from the neighborhood for sessions. (i can't wait for people to see his beloved "gear!")
Union Coffee is a great spot for getting a little work done, your quick morning coffee stop, coffee dates, and families, too. the hot cocoas are made from molly moon's hot fudge, and our daughter, February Moon, and i spend most mornings having yogurt bowls or hard cooked eggs and chocolate croissants. we hope to meet many friends at Union Coffee, new and old, for...
Read moreUnion is a coffee shop for everyone, but especially for coffee people. They use very high quality equipment (Victoria Arduino Black Eagle đ) paired with a high degree of staff expertise in coffee preparation. Your espresso based drinks are sure to be stunning on their own, or with one of their in-house flavors; but, the rotating options for pour-over are always a treat. As a multi-roaster cafe, they put in a lot of effort to source interesting and delicious coffees from various roasters, with plenty of options for whole beans to take home.
The staff are super friendly, and committed to having a positive presence and influence in their community. Because they actively put their values into practice, theyâve created a cafe that feels safe, welcoming, and supportive. They are truly an excellent example of how to run a small business with integrity, and I wish that more Seattle coffee shops and businesses...

This was unlike any feelings of nostalgia to comfort foods. I had a perfectly made drink and I fear my attempt to describe it will only cheapen it. I don't know what went into my latte but it legitimately toyed with my raw feelings with every sip. Not to be more dramatic than I already am but I enjoyed my drink outside on a beautiful early afternoon with the Autumn foliage and at one point nearly cried. Then I nearly cried again for a wholly different reason when my drink was depleted. The barista was amazing and a delight in every way possible. Union Coffee somehow found a special nook in my vapid soul and I almost don't want to come back again but can't wait to be back at...
