I live in the apartments above this shop and have been a regular since before these guys bought it and changed the name from Nos Nos to QED. I will no longer support them, however, because of the way they've treated a couple of their longtime baristas. I encourage you to reconsider your support of this business as well.
When these guys first took over, they assured the current staff that there would not be any cuts. Yet one of the most well-loved and friendly baristas that had been there forever was fired suddenly to make room for their friends and family they wanted instead. They did it in a shady way and all of us regulars were pretty appalled.
The quality went down. They used to have really big breakfast burritos, now they're tiny. The service is now your all-too-typical-Seattle "I can't be bothered to ask how you're doing, just order your coffee and get out of my face" Compared to my favorite barista they fired, it was night and day.
The last straw for me was the recent sudden firing of another longstanding and beloved barista. We became friendly and I always looked forward to seeing her and having a conversation. Well, they canned her too without any warning, in retaliation for asking for some schedule flexibility as a single momma.
Hey dudes: the people you put at the counter are actually human beings and they matter to the community here in High Point. It's like you're intentionally trying to make your place soul-less and impersonal. Super unfortunate that I have to say goodbye with how convenient the location is for me, but I just can't support this kind of...

With the regular staff being updated to James, Megan, and others who I've gotten to know, I enjoy coming to QED to spend time working remotely. The cook is very nice and always makes the food consistently delicious. Megan and james do a great job at welcoming and chatting. This crew has become a part of my community circle that I thoroughly enjoy seeing.
Old review:
I've come here since it was nos nos. Loved the burritos, staff, and the atmosphere.
Over time I just can't sit inside unless I'm wearing headphones. The new staff or at least the management and the cook, constantly complain and are negative. As another reviewer put it it's a "what do you want here's your coffee now stop bothering me" passive aggressive attitude. It's super bad.
There used to be some amazing baristas but now it's just... all passive aggressive people constantly complaining about something loudly for everyone to hear.
Their burritos went down in size but are still really good.
I've greatly decreased my visits and time there due...
Read moreSo the one and only time I visited this non-descript place I was yelled at by a grumpy barista with a serious anger management problem. Here's what happened: I ordered an Americano and he asked me if I wanted room for cream. I said no even though I put a little myself. I do this otherwise baristas tend to under-fill it with hot water. So I asked him where they keep the creamer and he literally yells at me: "YOU SAID YOU DIDN'T WANT CREAMER!!" It was so full of anger that the other customers turned around to see what this guys' problem was. I tried calming him down by explaining why I wanted to pour in the creamer myself. He didn't say a word. He just fumed and made my drink with a grim, red face. After leaving I came back and asked him why he freaked out and he kind of shook his head and said: "Yeah, I got confused" but no apology whatsoever. So if you walk in and deal with a short, pudgy male barista with a red beard, be careful what you say to him. He's having a rough life and won't hesitate to take his...
