First time at this quaint local coffee shop in Ravenna. It seems like the perfect place to crack open a book or a laptop on a drizzly Seattle morning. The seating accommodates about 11 people. I ordered a cappuccino. Trying not to judge the coffee by the compostable cup it was served in, but it's challenging. While I understand the environmentally friendly approach, the cups remind me of those from 75-cent coffee vending machines. If they aim to be eco-friendly, using reusable mugs for those staying to drink would be preferable.
As for the cappuccino, it was pretty terrible. The espresso had a sour, acidic taste, which I'm not a fan of. Unsure if the beans were under-roasted or stale. Originally considering a 5-star rating for atmosphere, I had to deduct at least two stars due to the staff's inconsideration. I was seated beside a small fridge holding sandwiches. The staff, while stocking up, repeatedly opened and closed the doors with loud bangs, creating an uncomfortable experience for patrons. This coffee shop might be convenient for locals, but even if I lived in the area, I wouldn't come back. Seattle offers too many better coffee shops to spend your...
Read moreThere isn't much I can write about this coffee shop, other than the fact that it has been the sole provider of caffeine and one of a a few providers of happiness for several key years of my life.
I lived around the corner from this coffee shop from 2011-2014, and I have seen it evolve from a dingy convenience store to a colorful, bustling hub for meetings, studying, socializing, and live music. I was blessed to perform here a couple of times while in college, offering me a supplemental assignment in performance under my music degree. The value in these performances were innumerable, and I cannot be more grateful for the laid back, friendly and supportive vibe that this shop provides.
If it isn't a combination of nostalgia, rose tinted glasses, and a romantic and cozy decor, it is certainly the quality of the coffee that still brings me back to Seven Coffee after having moved out of the neighborhood 3 years ago whenever I am in the neighborhood.
This shop is emblamatic of what a good coffee shop provides for its community: high quality coffee, personality, a comfortable/social environment, and a true sense of place. This shop is truly a...
Read moreI used to really love this Market and had been walking there for my coffee since I moved to the neighborhood 4 years ago. The staff USED to be amazing, I knew them all by name, their life stories, their dreams. Since the last manager change things have gone downhill, though. There was a much better handoff when Siri was the manager, but the last person left very abruptly and we’ve noticed the market just hasn’t been the same since. Some of the new staff is great, but only a couple people make my coffee correctly now. The woman that works on the weekends has to be the grumpiest barista I have ever encountered. You’re lucky if she even looks at you when you walk in and she cannot make a latte to save her life. I hate to say it, but I’ve been driving to Starbucks in Uvillage now because at least they are consistent. I never know what I am going to get at Seven anymore. All the random late openings are annoying as well after walking all the way up there just to see they still aren’t open at 9am sometimes. The culture and community feeling that Seven brought to the neighborhood just doesn’t exist anymore....
