I’ve been going to this place here and there for a few years and honestly was in love with this place specifically because of the customer service and how people treated you and how much care people put into your nails but today changed everything. I came in for gel x and this lady put the nails on me. A few of my nails was glued in crooked but this one particular one stood out and I addressed it to the lady early on and she proceed to gaslight me and tell me that it was my nail shape and that my nails were crooked. By then she didn’t put on the nail polish yet so I thought she was probably right about what she was saying but after she put on nail polish, it was still crooked. Then she did a design on one of my nails to show me what it would look like and I agreed and she did the design on the rest of my nails and for the rest of my nails, it came out thinker and not on the outer corners like we agreed. It also came out very messy. I expressed my concern and she got mad and took off my nails immediately and told me that I wasted her time. I have all due respect for people who work these jobs. But I’m also a paying customer. It’s not fair to put the blame on your customer if I’m constantly expressing my complain and I’m just being gaslighted and told to basically trust the process. Later the owner came and just did basic cat eye and I paid $84 for my nails. That’s not cheap. The owner also complained about wasting their time. I feel it’s not fair to me if I’m spending money and not being able to express what I want on my nails. I’m the one who will be stuck with the nails for the next a few weeks. It’s only fair that I get what I paid for. The lady also complained saying I have OCD and I’m picky and tried to laugh it off. Like how is that funny? It’s your customer just asking for you to make the nails go straight. She also said it’s the doctors job not a nail technician’s job to fix the straightness of your nail. How does that make sense? I included a picture of the final product. You can see for yourself and decide if the glued in gelX looks straight or not. I seriously recommended so many people to this nail salon. This experience ruined it all for me.

The acrylics are good here. They do a really good job with it. My main issue is how inconsistent and expensive the prices are for a place on University Way. Majority of their business is college students yet they charge prices like $103 (tip not included)! This was literally for a french FILL!! The first time I went here it ended up being 75$ for a fill. If it costs over $25 dollars just for a french design it is ridiculous. These gigantic price changes are suspicious in my opinion. Also, the acrylics are not very durable. I just got my second set with them on January 4th and not even 2 weeks later (it’s January 15th) one of my nails broke. I can’t argue the fact that they do a beautiful job with nails though and the guy does a much better job than the other ladies that work there. The second time I went, one of the ladies was treating my nails with complete disregard and ripped a lot of my natural nail off on one of the fingers. I recommend this place nonetheless because I did have a fantastic experience with the man who works there and to be honest I have very large doubts if there is any nail place in the area that could do better, unfortunately. Revision: Just recently went to them and received really good service and really good nails. I paid about $95 overall for a fresh new set. Still confused about the inconsistency of their prices, I'll just avoid getting French design with them because of how much extra they charge for it. I've changed my rating to 4 stars after this experience.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can't say enough wonderful things about Sunny Island Nail Salon! I've been making the trek from SeaTac for years now, and it has always been worth every mile. My best friend and I treat ourselves every 2-3 weeks to their incredible, intricate nail designs that simply can't be found anywhere else. As someone who has tried numerous salons, I can confidently say that Sunny Island will always hold a special place in my heart! The staff here are not only exceptionally skilled in nail art, but they are also the sweetest people you'll ever meet. I love coming in with a new design idea, and I've never left feeling anything less than thrilled with the results. Today was extra special as I brought my husband along for a matching set. He has never had a manicure before, and was nervous about how he'd feel, but he had a fantastic time! The care and precision that went into our nails were remarkable, and he even said he would definitely come back again. If you're looking for a nail salon that combines artistry, kindness, and an overall amazing experience and great vibe, look no further than Sunny Island! I will continue to shout their praises from the mountaintops! 🌟 Here are just a few photos of sets I’ve had over the last few months:

I went here for the first (and last) time about a month ago, maybe longer… and i just want to address a few things. First of all, i called an hour in advance to see if they had any availability for a full set, they said yes, i told them when i was coming, i came and i waited probably 35-45 minutes until they actually did anything to my nails. I understand if i was a walk in but we agreed on a time that worked for both of us yet i watched multiple people come in and get helped before i even got my nails started. Second of all, i asked for a pretty simple-MAYBE moderate design, a few gems, a heart, and a few little tiny drawn on twinkle stars, it was really not rocket science, but yet they were going to charge me $175 ??? are you kidding me? i instantly changed my design to something different and ended up STILL paying $135 and then they want a tip? wow. my nails were MAYBE med length, maybe even shorter, and my thumb was probably an entire centimeter longer than the rest of my fingers, and to top it all off, i had those nails on for a WEEK, ONE WEEK and one of them fell off, and it wasn’t even because i’m working or im doing something strenuous, no, it just started peeling off. The service was horrible, the work was horrible and the staff was horrible. I have been getting gel acrylics for almost 7 years now and have never been this disappointed in my life. I highly do not recommend and I would give them 0 stars if i could.

I don’t know if they thought i was stupid or a race thing or a business tactic but i felt absolutely uncomfortable being in there. If you have had a good experience there, im happy for you ! but if you’re anything like me, maybe look for...
