HOMELESS INCIDENT!! I visited this place randomly to get a few things done. On the day I came, a homeless person entered the shop in a shouting match with another homeless person. He pulled out a small knife which made the customers and some employees move to the back of the store to hide. I went to the back storage room to hide with some of the younger employees while two other employees and customers stayed in the front to talk the man down and get him to leave. Very brave of them! However, the youngest women employee actually pushed me out of the storage room when I tried to hide in there with her which I found bizarre and appalling. I instead went to hide in the restroom alone while the situation died down. For that reason, I have hesitated coming back here. I'm not saying this is a normal occurrence for this place of business but for that employee to push me out when she saw I was scared and then laugh about the situation later was strange and I'm not sure how to feel about it. I guess when people are scared, they do things in a heightened state of stress but to do that...if things went bad and something happened to me, she would have been the main reason why. If any other customer was in my place, I'm sure they would...
Read moreNot a pleasant interaction - Stopped in randomly on Thursday afternoon to ask about hair color and felt berated by the hair stylist/owner Lily (even the other stylists made comments about her response to me). Maybe it’s b/c I randomly stopped in (fair enough - I just moved to Seattle about a month ago and had extra time), but I would have happily done a consultation or come back another time had she said, “hey hun, I’m a little busy but set up a consultation for 15 minutes. And we can go from there.” But maybe not her style?
Instead I received, “listen, I wouldn’t bleach your hair. That’s me. What are you trying to pay? I would only do foils on you, Idn who did your hair but they didn’t tone it. Maybe you should have them do it again. This is a color correction you would need and it’s about $220…” etc. for like 10 minutes. I think I got like 4 sentences in - just to ask a question, “would you change the color?” and “I don’t mind the price”. Overall not my vibe. Where I’m from, if I approach someone with respect and calmness, it’s normal for it...
Read moreI can't say enough good things about my experience at the 1:1 braiding class with Lily! As a mom of two girls, I've always wanted to learn proper braiding techniques but felt intimidated. Lily was incredibly patient and broke down each step in a way that made sense. She answered all my questions (and I had many!) without making me feel rushed.
I went in thinking I'd never be able to braid properly, but by the end of the class I was actually doing it! Lily's teaching style is so encouraging and informative - she explained the "why" behind each technique which really helped things click.
What I appreciate most is how she tailored the instruction to my skill level and specific needs for braiding my daughters' hair. I left feeling confident and excited to practice what I learned. Thank you Lily for being such a wonderful teacher! This class was exactly what I needed and was worth...
