Trying to enjoy a rainy day during the Covid-19 quarantine, we drove to see the Chittenden Locks and stopped by Fisherman’s Terminal on the way back. My guess is, during a normal Saturday in healthier times, the Terminal would be packed with tourists and people out for the day. Wild Salmon allowed only three masked marauders in at a time, and health and safety were paramount. Wild Salmon is for “real,” and the information posted let patrons know what was fresh, what was frozen, and how much it would cost. I loved the experience.
Our purchases included 4 pounds of fresh Coho Salmon and fresh Halibut with a cost of about $100.00. Seattle ain’t cheap, and prices are not going down. In fact, real estate is still going up. (Amazon’s earnings are up during the pandemic) As always, we broil or bake seafood lightly, with just a touch of mustard. The fish was delicious, well worth the price of the swallow. I will be back to Wild Salmon to purchase fresh seafood. Next time, I may have to wait longer, but it will...
Read moreI love and miss Wild Salmon Seafood Market so much. The halibut cheeks, spot prawns, crab meat, salmon, sauces, fish cakes, whole trout and whole branzino. Fresh or flash frozen it was top notch. We live in Denver right now and we can’t get high quality meat or fish for anything close to Seattle prices. You can live where rent is cheaper but the car insurance and rent is more and I’m reminded how much people in the landlocked states don’t know what they are missing and how corporate America really price gouges them for it. And the air quality in Colorado is worse too. Stay where the fish is fresh especially if you originate from a landlocked state like me and ended up in a coastal place. Coastal food can’t be beat and the great service and food at Wild Salmon Seafood Market is a great example of that with fair prices for...
Read moreRecently took a chartered fishing trip and was recommended to take my catch to wild salmon seafood market to have it processed. Upon arrival the market was closed to install new equipment, okay no big deal, the employees were there installing the new equipment so I popped in quickly to see if they could recommend somewhere I could take my fish since they were closed while I was in town. The gentleman I talked to said he had no clue where else I could take my fish to but said it with a smirk like he knew. They would have rather seen my fish go to waste rather than send any business somewhere. Luckily I found a few places in Pikes market that were happy to help as well as B and E meats. If you find yourself in a similar predicament I’d throw one of the market shops or B and E...
