Planteles Plant-Based — Restaurant in Secaucus

5-Star day all around!! Henry and his food are a force to be reckoned with. My wife and I had just arrived from a long drive from Cleveland, OH and we were too early to check into our hotel this past Thursday. We were going to a show on Broadway (The Outsiders) also 5-Star!! We had some time to kill before the other party arrived. I googled vegan restaurant and the GPS took us to what looked like an industrial area and I began to get a little nervous, being my first time to New Jersey and all the Soprano episodes came rushing back into my mind. Ultimately, we were directed to a parking lot with this food truck run by the nicest guy I had met in New Jersey up until this point and so far he holds that title. Long story short, the food and service was impeccable and he even offered my wife and I a tour of his truck when he learned we are in the process of building a vegan food truck for the Cleveland market. He was very encouraging and inspirational to our endeavor. His food and service put a smile on my wife's face who was already annoyed with me for whatever I had done or said in the last 5 mins and that alone was worth every penny. Grabbed dinner from Planteles Plant‑Based this past Wednesday evening and I’m already plotting my next trip across the Hudson. The chef greeted us with a huge smile and walked us through the fully‑vegan menu—super friendly vibe that set the tone for the meal.

What we ordered (and loved):

Platano Balls: crispy outside, gooey plantain goodness inside—totally crave‑worthy.

Mini Planteles: tender pasteles with a bright, herby kick from the house sauce.

Tropical Paradise Burger: juicy, sweet‑savory balance with pineapple that somehow still held together.

Dirty Rice: perfectly seasoned and not shy on the veggies.

Yucca fries on the side—light, crunchy, and ideal for dipping.

Guava juice was refreshingly tart‑sweet and rounded everything out.
