THEY CHARGE YOUR CARD AND STEAL YOUR LUGGAGE.
REPLY TO THE RESPONSE FROM THE MANAGER IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM TO PICK UP MY LUGGAGE ON JULY 1, 2019 BUT THE SERVICE WAS NOT SET UP FOR PICKUP UNTIL AFTER JULY 1. KEEP LYING BUT THAT IS OK. THIS ISSUE IS ON YOUR HOTEL. MY LUGGAGE WAS NEVER PICKED UP BY UPS AND IF YOU LOOK IN YOUR LOG BOOK YOU WILL SEE THE DATE SHE CLAIMED UPS PICKED UP MY LUGGAGE WHICH NEVER HAPPENED. SHE TOLD ME SHE SAT IT OUTSIDE AND IT WAS GONE LATER. I FEEL YOUR HOTEL IS LYING FOR WHAT REASON I DONT KNOW. THERE IS NO REASON TO DO SO. EITHER WAY, IT DOESNT MATTER. I'M WISHING YOU THE BEST.
If I could give zero stars... yes my review will start like this. The hotel is clean and the location is fabulous! I had no issues with the hotel and was excited to have found a nice, affordable hotel that is close to the city and easy access ($4 bus bus fair about 30 steps away) Then I checked out and the horror started. I went with my 3 children and accidentally left a small bag inside the room. I arrived home at 515pm and called instantly. I was informed they are charging me $349 plus tax for the room because I left the bag inside. Instantly I called my bank and put a stop on the card, however over the night they attempted to charge my card a total of 8 times. Since they had gotten pre approval they did end up charging me $434. My bank reversed the charges with no issues but having that issue was not needed. I was then told I would never get my bag back because they don't ship or label anything and I'd need to send a courier service to do anything. Ended up sending UPS as a courier however UPS never picked up the bag because when they tried, they were told the bag is gone. Luckily only thing in the luggage was a few items of clothing and an electric tooth brush however I had one very special dress and (cheap) item of jewelry (went to see Be More Chill with my daughter and my late husband had gotten this necklace for me and my daughter before he passed away, either way, I understand I left the bag and thats on me, but)
I've emailed and called the hotel and manager several times always sent to the "manager" voice mail never a call back, never a return email.
The employees are super rude and when I first checked in I asked for the zip code so I could get some groceries delivered and the clerk told me she has no idea what the zip code was and I could google it LOL True, I can, but I was just making conversation. Knowing the zip code of the place you work doesn't seem like something you'd have to go out of your way to do. I asked about bus/taxi/uber service into the city for the next day and she told me she doesn't know she just moved here and started working a few days before. I should have known then that something was going to go wrong because when your hotel is so close to the city I'm sure that is a question that has been asked before? I couldn't have been the only person to have asked for transport service into the city?
All in all I am actually very sad because the hotel is in a great location and its very clean I have plans to return several times this summer to New York for various events and now I have to find a different place to stay. I was looking forward to staying there every time I had business...
Read moreOverall we enjoyed our ten-day stay very much. The desk staff was very courteous and eager to help, the decor was lovely, the location with buses nearby to get us into the city was perfect. The room was well-laid out and comfortable; we felt right at home with a living room, desk area, and kitchen - everything we needed for a lengthy stay. The dishwasher was a great touch. The bed was very comfortable and there was lots of storage for clothing. Your cleaning staff should be commended - the room was clean as a whistle every day. Our only issues were with the bathroom and breakfast room. The bathroom, while large and beautifully designed, lacked proper lighting. The large mirror over the sink only provided very dim lighting on the sides, which is fine if you are looking for romantic ambience, but makes it impossible to see well enough to put on makeup or shave. That kind of lighting makes no sense in a bathroom. There were also no hooks anywhere to hang clothing, bathrobes etc. while taking a shower, unless you count the small bar which held the hairdryer in a bag. A double hook on the back of the door would be much appreciated by your guests. The shower head could also be better quality - it was too high to reach easily and difficult to adjust. The shower was either too weak or came out in a clumpy stream. The massage feature was hard to find. As for the breakfast room, the breakfast itself was very good with a wide variety to choose from and we enjoyed our breakfast every morning. But the room itself was much too small, with people often jammed in, shoulder-to-shoulder, literally squeezing past each other and reaching over each other for utensils, food, etc. It was absolute chaos. The worst bottlenecks were at the toaster and waffle maker, (there should be at least two of each for that many guests) as people waiting for toast and waffles blocked the entire side of the room. Staff were very much "on the ball" trying to replenish supplies as they ran out, and they did a fine job, but it was obviously difficult for them to get through the crowd to the serving counters. The dining area was huge, and it would not be too difficult to use part of it to extend the serving area to at least double its size. These two issues were daily annoyances, but the only ones we had. We look forward to another visit to Residence Inn...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to stay at Residence Inn by Marriott Secaucus Meadowlands Hotel, and unfortunately, my experience with their breakfast service and staff left much to be desired. While the hotel itself had some positive aspects, the shortcomings in these areas were significant enough to warrant a lower rating.
Let's start with the breakfast service. As an important part of any hotel stay, I had high hopes for a satisfying and enjoyable meal to kickstart my day. However, I was disappointed by the lackluster offerings and the overall quality of the food provided. The variety was limited, and the options available seemed uninspired and monotonous. The taste of the dishes was mediocre at best, with some items appearing to be poorly prepared or reheated. It was clear that the hotel's breakfast lacked the attention to detail and quality that one would expect from a reputable establishment.
To make matters worse, when I approached the staff to inquire about the possibility of refills or improvements to the breakfast selection, I was met with rudeness and indifference. The attitude displayed by the staff members was both unprofessional and disheartening. Their dismissive responses made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a valued guest. This kind of behavior is simply unacceptable in the hospitality industry, where customer satisfaction should be a top priority.
Beyond the breakfast service and staff, there were some positive aspects to my stay at his hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the amenities provided were adequate. The location was convenient, and the hotel's overall ambiance was pleasant. However, these positives were overshadowed by the disappointing breakfast experience and the unpleasant encounters with the staff.
In conclusion, my experience at the Residence Inn by Marriott Secaucus Meadowlands Hotel was marred by subpar breakfast offerings and a rude attitude from the staff when approached about it. While the hotel had its redeeming qualities, the lack of attention to these crucial aspects affected my overall satisfaction. I hope that the management takes these criticisms constructively and works towards improving their breakfast service and ensuring that their staff members are trained to provide a welcoming and professional atmosphere for...
