This place is such a bummer once you realize what its actually about. This place fronts as a way to help people who need food yet its just a branch of a church taking donations for their own use.
When you enter there is a menu of how to pay for your food. There is an option for free if you can't afford it, and then options for the soup, the soup with labor, and buy a soup for someone else. The part that really bothered me is every single person working there was a volunteer, I asked each one of the people working. Yet, I am being asked to pay for labor but the business is not paying any employees.
This business model is frustrating because it fronts as doing something good. Yet they are only opened a few hours a day so I can't imagine they are feeding very many needy people tucked in an alley in downtown Sequim. Its not as if they are actively using this revenue to meet hungry people where they are and feed them. They present their business so you feel like your money is going to the community but unfortunately its not. Your money is going to a church that doesn't pay taxes, doesn't pay employees at their restaurant so they don't earn money that is then spent in our community, and based on their location and hours it is unlikely they are feeding very many people in need.
The food was so-so. It wasn't terrible but wasn't great either. It was a dumbed down version of ramen that lacked any authenticity in both presentation and flavor. The service was mediocre. Since everyone is a volunteer the staff don't have a good handle on their point of sale system and check out was painfully slow.
I was so excited when I heard about this place, its such a downer to find out its just a church that sells...
Read moreStaff was warm and very friendly. They helped me be comfortable ordering ramen after my bad experience at a place in Shelton. Pick what you want added to your bowl in a ‘subway’ type fashion. Everything is absolutely delicious! The pickled veggies, check and all the options are so tasty! The best part, is 100% donation based! Starting at $6 a bowl up to $12. I donated $16, I had extra cash and it felt better going here instead of Starbucks. Gave 4 star for the atmosphere. Walking there in you have to pass a homeless gathering spot, which makes sense, but I’m pretty sure someone ‘cat called’ me walking past 🙄. But other than that, 10/10...
Read moreThey claim to be there to help feed the needy. I'm in a hard time in my life and sometimes stop in for a much needed bite to eat that's safe and friendly. The woman that helped me gave me the rudest most belitting look when I simply said "unfortunately, I don't have the money to pay today." I sadly may need to return for fod because the resources offered for the needy are very scarce and I am left scrambling on where to eat. I was very saddned by her composure and the way I was treated. As if I don't get enough flack already...
