We came here after reading numerous reviews from all the restaurants in town. This one had a kid menu and that what ultimately came down to as we have two kids and they were open on Sunday. It was a little busy when we check-in; about 20 minutes wait. The server came quick with our menu and took our order. I wanted to try the halibut ceviche and was disappointed because it was so citrus that I couldn’t taste the fish at all. My husband finished it. The kids got a hamburger with fries and a cheese pizza. The cheese pizza was huge for a kid entree so the husband and his brother shared. We got the house special with blackened halibut, rice and seasonable vegetables. Fish was cooked well, veggies and rice were seasoned well. My husband was the only one ordered coffee and everything with tip came out to be $110. The restaurant has a nice view looking from inside as we got a window seat. Nothing fancy interior though. There is a playground behind the restaurant and the kids played on for a bit after lunch. Service was great; food came promptly, table was cleared quick and check came out in a timely manner. Price was okay. I gave it four stars for the super citrus favored halibut ceviche as it was $24. I recommend everything we had except the halibut ceviche but maybe someone was super heavy handed with the citrus this day.

This is the first place we have been to that is rated less than 4.7 and we decided to go because everywhere else was closed on Sunday. With that said, the host at the entrance was great. He was very inviting and polite. Then after he showed us to our seats, we waited a while before our server finally came to take our order. This wouldn’t be a big deal, especially if they’re busy, but they weren’t packed. So, my husband ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables. He added salt after a couple of bites, and that’s not like him. He said the steak needed to be seasoned, but the gravy was good. The potatoes were delicious and the veggies were good, too. I ordered cod tacos so the mango sauce and my first bite had bones. I would have been okay with it, if I knew to expect it, but it surprised me. The taste was okay, but nothing I’d go back for. Fortunately, the white Alaska Belgian beer was good. When we were done, we waited for our server to come back and she never did, so I had to go ask another server for our check. We wouldn’t go back to this restaurant if we have other choices, and we will definitely stick to restaurants with more than a 4.7 rating.

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. The food was good, and the service was good, but... worth $100? 😬 Maybe it's just me, and maybe I'm just not used to food prices in Alaska, but this was, to me, a $50-60 meal(in total) at best. I'm giving 4 stars based off the friendly wait staff and the fact that everything was right, and that we were taken care of in a reasonable time frame. But isn't that kind of like a base line anyway? Side note: We were gifted with the opportunity to watch Bob Ross while we waited on our food. I kind of need to drill down a little... I asked myself if I got the same experience in a more formal setting would it have been an appropriate price? I have to say no on that. Had the food been more flavorful I think I would have been more pleased. It had no pop. No pizzaz. It was just okay for me. In fact, I'd say my chili was the star of the show. But does that chili make up for the other $40 in value for this meal? I'm afraid not. I hate to say it but this stop simply didn't do it for me at this price point.

Summary: quality food, alright service, but subpar value due to high price. Visit: 7/3/22 evening 7pm Pros: - I liked my creamy seafood linguine (pictured), had a savory flavor and the cod and shrimp were moist and deliciously grilled. It is very creamy though. 4/5 - The wedge salad with bacon and blue cheese was tasty and the lettuce was fairly fresh. 4/5 - Halibut sandwich was well-cooked and juicy 4/5 - Crab cakes was decent 3.5/5 - We were able to walk in on July 3 evening which I'm grateful for. - The server was friendly and helped us call a taxi after dinner. Cons: - Very pricey at around $50 a person. - The service was subpar, our waitress was a little sassy and in a hurry. She brought us the wrong Cabernet Sauvignon (she brought a Blanc instead of regular) and she was somewhat dismissive although it was on the house and she did bring the right one after. Overall: Food 4/5 some good dishes. Service 2.5/5 not much to be thrilled about. Value 2/5 pricey though it is Seward.

People, whoever is reading this. Food is amazingly delicious 😋! If you are visiting Seward, AK come check out The Highliner Restaurant. The Food is great! Try the sockeye smoke salmon dip appetizer. Is well prepared, good serving portion. The crab cakes. They are very tasty 😋 and good portion of crab in them. Their clam chowder soup, it is ok. It's made from scratch good portion of clam meat which I like! The fish and chips, choice of cod or halibut. Very good size fish. I got full with the two pieces that came on my plate. Both fish, very delicious 😋. I do recommend this place. If you are vacationing in AK stop by in Seward, AK. Make the time...also the bar is comfy good atmosphere, service is superb. Good food, good people, good service 👍

My fettuccini Alfredo tasted fantastic, originally $13. I then added mushrooms $3 as listed on the menu. I inquired about adding shrimp. She said they can do it but didn’t let me know what the price was. I expected it wouldn’t be that expensive. Was I surprised! The up charge was $12. (That’s $3 a shrimp for 4 of them). Absurd. From the start there was no silverware she forgot that request, actually we had to get up and get it ourself. She kept forgetting things. Each time she ran back to get something it took several minutes. It was a clean place. A bummer we had that experience. It wasn’t that busy on a Sunday night. We only had a side salad, the fettuccine, a hot chocolate and a dessert. Visiting from out of town.
