I don't understand the high rating for this establishment. I "tried" to eat breakfast at Eggs Up this morning along with my wife and granddaughter. The service and food preparation was far below average. First, other individuals & tables, who sat down & ordered after my family, received their food prior to my family's. Second, after a long wait in receiving our food, my omelette & biscuit was cold. I simply asked the waitress to "nuke" my my plate because my omelette was cold including the biscuit. The waitress returned later saying the kitchen was fixing me a new omelette. Finally, after another wait, the waitress provided the new omelette, w/o the cheese as ordered originally. Not to cause any scene or commotion I took the plate to the back counter and explained everything to Mallory (pink shirt & short hair, who was very nice)in which she agreed to deduct my meal from the from the bill. I left the restaurant highly disappointed, and sat in my vehicle while my wife and granddaughter tried to finish their breakfast. As I indicated earlier, I 'tried' to eat breakfast at Eggs Up, to be denied because of poor service and food...
Read moreWe have eaten at Eggs Up Grill many times including at this location and our last visit was absolutely horrible. My Wife and I ordered the Shrimp and Grits, a menu item she has ordered at least 3 times at their Wilmington, NC location. The Shallotte location did not use the same type bread, the bowl was much smaller as well as the food portion and the shrimp tasted fishy like frozen shrimp. Our kids both ordered kids pancakes. After a few bites they started saying they tasted funny. I tasted a bite and they tasted like they were rancid! We brought this to the attention of our waitress and her response was they sometimes close the pancake grill early and cook them on the meat grill. Why would they do this?? Plus we were there 3 hours prior to closing, so why start closing grills so early? They did offer to make another dish for them but nothing further. Not even a discount for the inconvenience. The Wilmington restaurant offered a 25% discount due to customers having to wait abnormal lengths of time for their food. Will not go back to the Shallotte,...
Read morePoorly managed and poor service. As someone who tips 25%+ minimum and is extra patient during the current post-pandemic employee shortage, I tried to be understanding but could not overlook the failures of this restaurant. Party of three seated on a Tuesday morning without being assigned a waitress. It took nearly ten minutes to be acknowledged at our table and drink orders taken. The very simple drink order was completely incorrect when it was brought to our table much later. With menus still in hand, we waited another 10+ minutes while others who had been seated long after us were being attended. We had been assured a couple times during this wait that we would be taken care of, to no avail. The staff at this location makes it clear that good help is hard to find as no one, including the manager wearing all black took any responsibility. We left without ever placing a food order. There are many better options in Shallotte and the surrounding area than this...
