I order take out from here quite often. I have noticed that there is a horrendous amount of rice compared to the amount of meat you get! When I went to pick up my order tonight I decided to ask why is there such a little anount of meat compared to enough rice to feed a family of 10? The Japanese lady said because they weigh out the steak before they cook it and it's weighed out to 4 ounces. She said they weigh out the chicken also to only a few ounces. So if your looking to enjoy the meats.........don't go to Osaka in Shallotte NC! Small steak bowl with about 5 to 6 small bite size pieces of steak with enough rice to feed 2 people. The hibachi plate with steak, chicken, and shrimp with no vegetables and no soup or salad (this is the way I order it), it has only 4 to 5 bite size pieces of steak, same with the chicken, and they count out the shrimp to about 3 to 4 pieces and this comes with enough rice to feed a family of 3; cost of this plate is $50. Wow they literally spend about $5 in meats for this plate and $1 worth of rice and sell it for $50! I think if everyone would complain they would have to serve more meats with their meals or loose business. Update: It's now July 12th at about 7:30pm and I ordered a few meals to go by phone. When I arrived and walked inside it was literally 87° in this restaurant and people were fanning themselves and the owners had fans sitting everywhere on the floor. How is fans on the floor sanitary? Wouldn't that blow dirt and dust up on your food which is on the table? Once an employee came to the register to take my payment they stated that the owner was too cheap to fix the other HVAC unit and the whole restaurant was working off of one unit with the whole kitchen in the back, 5 open grills in the front, and the front door with folks coming in and out and the oitside temperature was the exact same as the temperature in...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant for the first time after seeing mixed reviews and were curious to try it for ourselves. We arrived early—around 5:15 p.m. on a Saturday—and were greeted immediately and seated at a hibachi table with one other couple. I expected we might have to wait for more guests to arrive before our order was taken, but to our surprise, service started right away.
The soup and salad were fresh and tasted great, a strong start to the meal. We ordered the steak and chicken combo to share and paid the additional share charge, which we were aware of. The portion sizes were generous, and everything was cooked perfectly. Even with splitting the meal, we had enough food to take home leftovers.
Our chef was friendly and efficient, though not particularly engaging. We assumed the more subdued performance may have been due to the small table size—just four adults—and a partially empty room. Our drinks were refilled as needed, which we appreciated.
Unfortunately, not everything met expectations. Our waitress seemed visibly frustrated and was not friendly during the ordering process. The biggest issue was the timing of the bill: it was dropped off as soon as our entrées hit the table, and the waitress hovered while we were just beginning to eat. This made us feel rushed, especially since there wasn’t a wait for tables when we left.
One other disappointment: the shrimp appetizer mentioned on the menu—and typically expected at hibachi-style restaurants—was never served, and no explanation was given.
Overall, it was an okay experience. The food was excellent and plentiful, but the service and lack of attention to detail made the visit feel impersonal and rushed. With a few improvements, this place could offer a much better...
Read moreIt started out fine we got our soup and salads and then the guy to cook in front of us came and he cooked the rice and vegetables which were okay..... then he started on the meat. Instead of cooking the steak first then the lobster, shrimp, and scallops and then the chicken.... he put all of the raw meat on the grill at once and went back and forth cooking it which would have been fine if he used different utensils but instead he’d touch raw chicken then mess with our steak and then he’d touch the raw chicken again then touch the shrimp. The prices at this restaurant are too high for a five person family to pay if we’re just gonna get salmonella. On top of this he hardly interacted with us at all and something had to have been wrong with their ventilation system over the grill because the smoke went directly in our faces the entire meal and he didn’t comment about it once or even offer an apology for it. The only thing we could eat were the vegetables, rice, and chicken. On top of this the waitress was incredibly rude as well! I was just looking down at my salad while I was eating and next thing I know there is a hand right in front of my face as she reaches across me and my food! This continuity happen throughout the meal despite me asking her to stop when all she had to do was walk 3 more steps to give it to the person to my right. I never received an apology from her either. I live in Shallotte but I will NEVER come back here again! I’d rather drive all the way to myrtle beach to go to Miyabi’s then drive to Osaka’s which is less than 5 minutes...
