OIB Surf & Java — Restaurant in Shallotte

We made the trek over the bridge and off the island almost daily to visit OIB Surf and Java. It has become my favorite OIB hangout. The entire shop is so welcoming - love their merchandise selection (and spent way too much $$ in the surf shop), the coffee is great and fairly priced - lattes and frappes are priced similar to other coffee shops. The staff are wonderful - helpful and cheery with great recommendations. My kids LOVED the smoothies and wanted to go as often as I'd let them. I loved the coffee and the frappes. They have great seating and working areas for people to come in and work, talk, or just hang out. We loved the vibe of this place and if we weren't at our house or on the beach, the rest of our group knew to find us at OIB...

Great, fresh coffee. AHHHMAZING homemade-in-house muffins. We’ve been making the short trek over the OIB bridge for the past few summers to get coffee and muffins here. The chill atmosphere of the surf shop and the friendliness of the staff is always so welcoming. Their prices are also fair. They’ve renovated the inside since last summer and it looks awesome! They now have a cozy sitting area with upholstered seating in a setting that makes you feel like you’re on your own little porch in the islands. Today we came to get my daughter a frappe for her birthday. They made a wonderful recommendation for the flavor and she loved it! 100% recommend OIB...

The monkey bread and banana chocolate chip muffin were delicious! Banana one surprisingly didn't really taste like banana at all, which I'm fine with lol. I got their caramel macchiato which was really good! Very pronounced espresso flavor, not super sweet. I was less impressed with their mocha frappe. I probably would have liked it more if I had gotten it with a shot, the coffee flavor was seriously lacking for me. It wasn't overbearingly sweet though, just not flavorful enough overall. They also have some really cool merchandise and some nice outdoor seating options. Also masks required. Overall a nice place! I would go again if we visit...
