We went to Holden Beach for Memorial Day weekend and were fortunate enough to get a hotel booked at the last minute. We had a late Friday check in, which was ok because the room key was exactly where they said it would be. We had no trouble with a late check in. The hotel looked nice from the outside and the room itself was clean (to the visible eye), but as soon as we opened our room door, the smell of mildew was so overwhelming, it was awful. We spent the first night with our main door and the bathroom window open and the ac on full blast to try to air out the stench. The smell was so powerful, it did nothing to help. I guess we reached a point where we became immune to the horrible smell after staying in the room for a few hours, but the second we would leave and come back to the room, we had to open our bathroom window and main door once again. You could visibly see that the dresser was warped from water damage and mildew on top of the drawer. When we told the housekeeping lady of our room smell, she said "she cleaned many rooms a day and could not smell anything." She also said she would tell the main desk about our situation. We had the rest of our group (who was staying in a house down the road) come and witness the smell of our room. They all said there is no way you can enter that room and not smell the mildew. The main desk never got back to us for our room complaint. We had to call them to see if there was anything they could do. The man at the main desk pleaded ignorance and when we asked what he could do about the room situation, "well, what were you wanting to hear?" Basically, as long as you have no issues or complaints, you should be ok staying here. The man at the main desk did nothing to help us. Customer service is seriously lacking! The room was not worth the stench or the horrible customer service. I do not know if the other rooms smelled like ours, but I will be sure to stay...
Read moreMy family last weekend called to reserve a place for a sat night stay. The woman we talked to was very friendly. Said we could call back and reserve since at that time I was just calling around for prices.
We decided to use them cause of the one good review we saw and they were close to the beach. When I called I talked to a man and he told me they don't normally take reservations until day of. It was Friday and I was calling for sat. So I was going to wait until the next day but decided against it since we saw it was going to rain.
Yesterday my family headed down to Holden beach. I called to reserve a room that night. They had one left and was even willing on paying the extra $35 since they only had the 3bed left. He told me I quote " I am not going to reserve my room out unless you want it for two nights. If no one gets it by 4 you can have it for tonight". I was shocked how he just treated a customer. It was ok last weekend but not this weekend? I'm sorry but you don't treat paying customers that way.
We're new to Raleigh and love Holden beach and was planning on coming here a lot. They lost what could have been a long time customer. We will plan on staying at the Days...
Read moreLoved the 3 bed room. Big open spacious room with two beds, tv and mini fridge. Then a private room inside the room with a bed and tv. Big bathroom with a walk-in shower. No tub. Possibly handicap accessible. Great a/c in both rooms. One of the a/c stopped working and it was still cold in the room, called the office just to let them know and they replaced the whole unit within 30 minutes. Super great private porch with this room, with rocking chairs. That was one of the best parts of this room. Felt more like house then a hotel room. Great owners. Nice pool. Wasn't crowded when were there. Nice outside area with tables and grill. Would be a nice place to cook out and let the kids play. Big sized mini fridge. Lots of fresh towels. Only thing negative is no microwave. Which we knew prior but that it's just the only downfall. Great for the price. Way better than expected. Cheapest place I know of to stay at the beach and have such a great room. Also felt safe. Walking distance from restaurants, gift shops...
