My husband and I, along with our 2 kids, took our first trip to Holden to meet friends for a summer vacation. Our friends have been vacationing there for 3 years and brought us to one of their favorite spots to stop for putt putt and ice cream, Fantasy Isle. Putt putt was fun for the 7 of us, but my favorite part was the ice cream! My son has a severe nut allergy and there aren’t many places I’m comfortable with him having ice cream. We always ask just in case, but it’s often not safe for him. The girl working the day we came was amazing!! She pointed out that they keep the nut flavors in a separate cooler and listed all of the flavors that are made on separate machinery than the nut flavors. My son picked a flavor he wanted and she double checked their list to make sure it was safe and said give me a minute to wash my hands and get a clean scoop. She got a clean scoop then washed it again herself and got a new tub that hadn’t been scooped from yet. You don’t even understand how happy I was that he could share ice cream with everyone else and that I wasn’t stressed over the potential of a reaction! Your steps you take to allow a kid like mine the ability to have a treat like everyone else is simply amazing and I cannot express how thankful I am for people like you! Every year we come to Holden Beach with the family and every year we go play putt putt and eat ice cream at Fantasy Isle.

Now in truth the course isn't anything too amazing or intricate, but don't let that stop you from visiting and making it like a good golf event. We come and let the kids putt around even though they take a dozen swings. It's funny to watch. Then the adults try and sober up and channel their inner Tiger Woods to beat each other.

We've come before when no one is here and we've come when the wait is long, but there is tons of seating around and everyone always seems happy here.

The ice cream inside is good. It you are unsure of what to get an employee will give you samples and you can choose from a cup or a few different cones.

So I've been coming to Holden for about 38yrs now and ever since I was a kid, we would come here for ice cream and mini golf. Today, we brought my 5yo here for a round. Jack and Laini were the staffers on and super friendly. The boy did great playing and the family had a good time. After, my boy asked about ice cream.

He has a very rare condition where he can't eat protein in large amounts. Jack and Laini went above and beyond to accommodate. Jack pulled the barrel of lemon sorbet out of the freezer so we could check the ingredients. Laini brought out the cone box so we could check it. For once, my son got to be a normal kid at the beach and eat an ice cream cone after playing putt-putt.
