Very interesting. The burgers are quite lean, but very tasty. The pickles in particular are very good: mild kosher dills sliced lengthwise rather than in 'chips' and perfectly suited to the flavorful meat. The fries are shoestring, which might put a picky eater off-balance (they're perhaps half the width of McDonald's) until they understand why. They are just right for getting the most out of the sauce. I think it's a surface area thing as a steak fry wouldn't take advantage of it so well. There are two house sauces to try, and my wife and I agreed the jalapeno version was definitely superior to the original. Neither was enough to replace ketchup for me but my wife probably used nothing else once she tried them. The seasoned salt available for fries and burgers to shake on however much you please is also very tasty but can be a bit much on the fries which really do quickly take on whatever flavor you throw at them. Unless you have a low blood pressure problem you're trying to self-medicate I'd suggest one quick dash on your burger and maybe the same on your sauce, but no more. The frozen custard is surely the real deal. We shared a Nutter Butter ice cream sandwich which was frozen hard enough I don't recommend it unless it's going to be five or ten minutes before you can start eating it. They seemed to have a good selection of frozen custard desserts we look forward to sampling at some point. They also offer cheese curds which I intend to try next time, or maybe the cheese fries since I wasn't turned away from ketchup by their sauces. I recommend they offer another potato option as well, perhaps waffle fries, for those of us who like fried potatoes to still taste somewhat like fried potatoes We'll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me start by saying, generally, my family likes Freddy's. When inside dining, the food is fresh and staff are typically pleasant and the overall experience is a positive one.
The same cannot be said for carryout experiences lately though. From missing order items to lukewarm food at pickup, it's just starting to become more of a hassle than it's worth. And that's just the drive-thru. Got a Freddy's Mobile App order? Forget convenience. According to the employee running the counter today it's policy (per management) that you HAVE to go inside to pick it up, no drive-thru. Once you do get inside, the food is thrown on a shelf by the door with a receipt attached, but no real accountability. This also includes ice cream orders. You just grab it and go, which I guess saves from standing in line, but at the cost of the food being inedible. Food ends up cold, ice cream ends upmelted...oh, but "you have to get your own drinks", so I guess at least they weren't watered down.
Maybe this is a slower, evening weekday thing? Maybe it's always like this, I don't know. We generally just hit the drive-thru, so I couldn't tell you. I do know that I won't be bothering with Freddy's Mobile App again and with the hit-or-miss experiences at the drive-thru lately, it may be a while before we give Freddy's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in on a weekday night with my boyfriend at 9, they close at ten and we just wanted a custard so I figured it would be fine. We go in, order, pay and then find a both. As we sit down I made eye contact with one of the employees who was wearing a headset and I was pretty sure you said āI just swept thereā and I passed it off because itās not that big of a deal and he couldāve been talking on the headset. We sit down and get our custard, eat it and everything was fine. We get up to leave and my boyfriend stands up and accidentally hits his head on the light fixture and it starts swinging. I grabbed the light fixture to stop it and immediately the same employee comes up and says āitās only hanging by a cordā and my boyfriend says āoh Iām sorry did I unplug it?ā To which the employee says āyou will if you pull on itā and I said āoh no no sorry he just hit his headā and the kid looks at me and goes āmhm sureā... alrighty then? So we start to head out and the guy says āyeah Iām just going to āscootā you out of my lobby now so I can clean itā. It was not even past 9:30 at this point so there was no reason for him to do these things. My boyfriend and I are far from hoodlums and we didnāt cause any trouble and I thought it was horrible...
