IL Fornaio Bakery — Restaurant in Shelby Charter Township

We decided to go with this bakery for a simple cake for our wedding. We showed them a picture and they told us no problem. Well when it came time to pick up our wedding cake the night before, the owner decided to make our cake look more like a wedding cake? (Again didn’t ask for that) and we were so upset with the shape. ( was supposed to be a heart looks more like a lopsided mess. They said they would be gladly to remake it and have it ready for pick up the morning of my wedding. Well come time to pick it up in the morning it was not ready and they made sure again to ask us what we wanted. I’m very heartbroken that my wedding cake looked so horrible ( don’t get me wrong it tasted good, but it looked like I 3 year old wrote all over it.) since we were left hours before my wedding, our cake just was not worthy enough to be a part of our day. THE GOOD: There cherry bread is awesome. The storefront, and help, are both knowledgeable and inviting. THE BAD: Their so-called Paczki's (spelling) were so dry, we pitched them in the garbage. Their cannoli's were awful. The FILLING was tasty, BUT the shell was something with which you could sand wallpaper. What is 'weird' is that they sell their goods to other restaurants.
