May I start with, I have been to Pioneer multiple times since it has opened and prior to today, I had great experiences.
Today was the first time I had been inside this business while the owner was there, and she was behind the counter taking orders and making coffee. There is a board sitting out that has the employees names and their favorite coffee. The one I like is a muddy latte with peanut butter that is a barista Daniel’s favorite, so I just call it the Daniel. To me , no harm done. I ordered my coffee and said “May I have the Daniel “ while the owner of the business took my order. She was a bit thrown off , so I pointed to it and all seemed well. I sat down with a friend of mine while waiting for my coffee to be made and I heard her start talking about how I called it “the Daniel” and they don’t have that on the menu and just how silly it is , and she was making it very obvious that she was displeased with it. I heard over and over again “that girl comes in here and called it the Daniel “. She seems very annoyed, pointing out that Daniel did not come up with that drink so how dare I. She then places it on the counter , looks at another lady behind the counter with almost a smirk and calls out “muddy latte “ , then laughs with an attitude of “I’ll show her”
Now this while experience made me feel very uncomfortable and very unwelcome in this building. I am unsure if the owner was aware that I could hear every word she was saying, but I did not appreciate it. This has been a place I have recently been visiting 2-3 times per week. Because of this experience, I have decided not to return, and will stick with the other local coffee shops in the area.
It’s sad because the coffee is pretty good at this location. However, it’s not worth feeling bullied by the staff,...
Read moreI went this morning to get coffee and use their WiFi for a quick work meeting since spectrum was having an outage at my place. The mocha I ordered was good. The server/cashier wasn’t terribly friendly or engaging even though I tried to make small talk. It is new so maybe she just hasn’t found her groove yet.
It is a little loud in there even though it wasn’t at all crowded. It’s hard to huddle into a corner for a quick call when it is that loud.
It IS great for sitting and watching people walking around outside. They could benefit from a couple of small bistro tables outside for nice days.
The decor is cute and bright and they have tons of outlets for charging. The menu is clear and well presented. Looks like a few creative beverages on the menu as well.
I’ll keep going when the opportunity presents itself but not for quick phone meetings or calls. I wish...
