Ordered a Mickey Mouse cake and Jumbo Cupcake âsmash cakeâ for my sonâs 1st birthday. Told the owner up front that we did not want the standard vanilla or chocolate flavors that are offered at the normal price and agreed to pay extra for another flavor. We purchased 4 different cupcakes to try them and see which we liked the best out of my own pocket. Strawberry had the best flavor and wasnât dry like the others. Went back in a few days later and put a down payment on them as well as ironed out the final design with strawberry being our flavor of choice for both cakes. This Sunday as our son smashed his cake, to our unfortunate surprise, it was plain white vanilla cake. We then cut into the main cake only to be disappointed a second time when no red strawberry goodness could be found, only plain white vanilla boringness⌠Well over $100 wasted on a cake we didnât want, nor order. When I called Tuesday to alert them of the error I was told that she must have been confused and did not write it down correctly. When I asked what could be done she offered me a few cupcakes for free to compensate. That doesnât make up for the whole wasted main cake that no one cares to eat due to our flavor preference which we expressed more than once in our dealings and the order process. We will not be back and strongly warn anyone who does order a cake to write your order down and make it into a contract where both parties sign or at least get a receipt with your detailed order from them, something we never receive nor were offered. Also, pay the extra fee for a credit card and use it so you can dispute the charge from your card company if the order is incorrect as she didnât even offer a partial refund for us with our cash payment⌠Better yet look elsewhere and plan far enough in advance that you have options as who to use so they arenât already booked like everyone else was when we placed our order several weeks...
Read moreAfter driving past Sweet House otw to Shelby park, I finally decided to check it out.
We initially only stopped in for ice cream, however, when it comes to options, they definitely live up to the name "sweet house", because that house was full of sweets!
I went with the Oreo red velvet brownie, a large chocolate chip cookie, banana pudding, a peanut butter crazy shake for myself and vanilla and chocolate waffle cones with sprinkles for the kiddos.
The baked goods were very basic. There was no wow factor. - The chocolate chip cookie was brittle and just tasted like flower and sugar. - The banana pudding was surprisingly oily, like a flan or something. - finally the Oreo brownie was built like a cookie not a brownie, and didn't taste Oreo nor velvety.đ
On the flip side the frozen treats were superb!đŞđ˝
Fair warning â ď¸ the crazy shake takes awhile to make, it's messy, and doesn't travel well. But the end result is well worth it! (Picture included) The kids cones were very good as well. I stole a piece from the kids to try it out. Lolz call it a child tax.
In the end the frozen treats are where the 3 stars came from. If it wasn't for that, I probably would have given it a one â. So best bet, in my opinion get a crazy shake! You won't regret...
Read moreMy daughter got married in Gastonia on August 22, 2020. Two days prior to the wedding, my daughter tells me she needs desserts for the rehearsal dinner. I started my Google search and then called a friend of mine that lives local in the area. She recommended Karren Walls. I went to see Karren at her bakery (which is a delightful place) and asked her about making mini bundt cakes, then told her I needed them tomorrow. She politely said that she normally needed two weeks notice, but since it was a small order (24) and we were from out of town she would gladly make them for us. She did an excellent job!!! They not only looked great but tasted great too! They were a big hit at the rehearsal dinner and everyone was asking where I got them from. I cannot THANK Ms. Karren enough for taking our order...
