Culver’s — Restaurant in Shelbyville

This Culver’s is the worst!!! The wait time I usually don’t mind because I think they make your food to order? I appreciate the hot food, but on July 1st @6:30p I never received my food and the “shift manager” didn’t care or bother to apologize or even acknowledge I was I. The restaurant. After a long hot shift at work and on my way home I placed an order in the drive- thru. Nothing complicated, a deluxe with the basket. I had to pull up and wait, I went inside after realizing all the people that were in front of me and some after me were gone. Looking at the clock it had been about 15 minutes! So I went inside with the number they gave me. I asked a young man about my order and he in turn asked Eduardo. Eduardo said it will be out as soon as it could, and shook his head. So, I waited in the lobby, I watched this man snap at two of his employees, grumble to himself as he filled orders. Walk around to where the food was being prepared walk back and continue filling orders. I waited another 15 minutes, before he sent the young man over to me to ask what I had, so I asked for a refund. The team shift leader, a young lady was very nice and processed the refund. My husband and I were taking our time coming back from a visit with family for Thanksgiving, about a 6hr drive, when we stopped for lunch. We had never eaten at Culver's before and wanted to try someplace new. It was between 2:30 and 3 when we decided to go inside and sit down. There were 7 people behind the counter and only three were working. There was no ice, tea, ketchup or napkins available; we had to go to the counter to get them. I didnt count them but there were approximately 20 tables and I'd say half were occupied and and a third of open tables were dirty. We had to wipe our table down before we set our food down. With all that being said, my burger was really good. The meat is very thin, similar to Steak and Shake, but a whole lot better. My husband had the grilled chicken. The bun was shaped like a hoagie bun but smaller even though it was larger than the chicken. He said it was difficult to eat, so he just ate the chicken. We made both orders a medium meal. The drinks were a decent size, but, we got three orders of fries. I can only assume that they didnt have medium size bags. We wanted to try someplace new and we achieved that. I think we will go back but only...

What saves this place from a lower rating is the good food and fast service we all expect from Culver's. Unfortunately, I had to seriously dock this Culver's because of an experience that failed to please in a variety of manners.

To begin, the entire dining room was dirty; food and wrappers littered the floor and a few tables. Our order was also delivered with three different errors--wrong drink size, smoothie instead of cooler, and wrong salad dressing. Some of the staff were friendly, but many were terse and disinterested. Also, the drink & condiment station was dirty and depleted of many items.

The only ordering register had a long, slow line, eventually pushing me to leave the restaurant before ordering a dessert. When I put all the factors together, it becomes clear that the primary issue at this Culver's is understaffing, a management problem.

I certainly hope that the day I visited was out of the ordinary, and judging by the other reviews here, I had an unusual experience. But it did happen, and I'm writing this as a warning for the future......
