Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Shelton

Had to speak to the manager during this visit. I think she thought I intended to complain about something. I sensed the defensive shields were full up. She sort of dropped them when I informed her I wasn't asking for her to complain. Can't blame her, won't take points away for it, but perhaps moving fwd? Greet customers happily... You'll go further in life softening the blow. Okay, that said? Let's move into this one.

I fav'd Dairy Queen way back in 1985. I decided it was the place I preferred over all others. If there's a dairy queen nearby while I'm working? I'll go there. There is absolutely NO difference between one from another... Ever.

Well... At least until I visited the Shelton location. On this day, I expected just another visit. I ordered my usual double burger combo.

In 40 years... The double at one location was no different than at the next. You can count on it. But... On this visit... I was blown away. This burger was like it was made on a smoker in your buddies back yard party. It was sloppy it was fresh, the meat was amazing; done to perfection and like... Everything... Done to perfection right down to the fries. My Gosh... I was stunned.

This was my first visit to this place since moving here from Las Vegas... And trust me, I've had some pretty good food in Vegas... Even Dairy Queen . But even the Vegas dairy queen was no different than any other anywhere else.

Whoever's responsible for this... I hope you keep it up... The manager alluded to the cook.

Give that boy what he wants even if it's a raise. He's your goose that lays golden eggs. Treat him well and keep him for as long as you can. And if he has to leave for any reason. Set his bar as your...

Excellent place to eat even by fast food standards •Very clean even during Lunch rush •Food is consistently very good quality •Staff is very friendly and diligent with orders •Dining area is astheticly pleasing and has a good family friendly vibe to it. •Drive thru has a really cool bridge that goes over Shelton creek, during the proper season, you can see salmon swimming up it to spawn.

My only complaint is that is is one of the few fast food joints in the Downtown Shelton area. So it's one of the few choices to eat at if you happen to work around downtown or close to there. Otherwise you'd have to go uptown which I am much too lazy to do. As a result it's lunch rush is absolutely massive, and the staff does not seem to be properly equipped for the large influx of customers. Their kitchen seems to be half the size of a standard fast food kitchen. Also, the drive through is very short and vehicles are very often sticking out into on-coming traffic after only around 4-5 cars.

If you could beat the lunch rush, this is one of the best fast food joints in the town I would highly recommended...

The gravy for the chicken strips is often obviously old and left under the heat lamp or microwaved as the plastic lid is cracked. It also often tastes a bit like plastic and has a too thick consistency.

The French fries are often cold and limp, even soggy. So ordering a meal is often hit and miss.

Even though other locations have updated to small boxes for fries and paper bags, they still stuff your burger into a rectangular box and dump fries into it.

Their waffle machine broke a few years ago and the owner refused to replace it so this location stopped serving waffle bowls well before the other locations did.

Larger blizzards often are poorly mixed and have only vanilla ice cream at the very bottom.

Their ice cream cake options are extremely limited.
