Anderson's Tavern — Restaurant in Sherwood

Wow… Sherwood finally has the kind of place we’ve all been waiting for! Anderson’s is hands-down one of the best restaurant/bars I’ve ever been to — and I’ve been to hundreds if not a few thousand over the years.

The food? Southern comfort done right. The buttermilk fried chicken is next-level — juicy on the inside, perfectly crunchy on the outside, and there’s some secret something in that seasoning that just makes it unforgettable. The sides are spot-on too: collard greens, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, and a ton of other Southern favorites that make you feel right at home. Food was so good I had to ask, "How"...well, its all made fresh from scratch and from passed down family recipes from their southern roots. This is not "bar food"...it's real and fresh and amazing!!

The service is how it used to be — warm, genuine, and attentive. You can tell the staff and owners truly appreciate their customers and care about your experience. They treat you like you’re doing them a favor by being there, not the other way around. That kind of hospitality is rare these days.

The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting — whether you’re there for dinner, drinks, or just good company. They have karaoke nights (fun if you’re into it), but the cool thing is you can still escape to the dining or bar area and have a quiet conversation without shouting over music. Plus, there are pool tables, video games, and even video poker coming soon, apparently just waiting on the state to ship em out!

Simply put, Sherwood has never had a place like this...I'll double down and say no one within 5-10 miles (likely more radius) of Sherwood has created something like this!!! The owners have created something special — great food, amazing service, and a comfortable vibe that makes you feel like you’re hanging out in your own living room with good friends. I'm literally just blown away, like fully blown away...and they just opened...yet, completely nail EVERYTHING!!

Had dinner at Anderson’s last night and have already told everyone I’ve talked to since about it. I can’t say enough good things! The owners and staff are so incredibly nice, even with them being packed on a Thursday night they still were laid back and took the time to connect with us. The atmosphere is great and has sweet personal touches with their grandma’s framed recipes and picture on the wall, but even after all that the food and drinks were the real standouts and SO reasonably priced! The fried green tomatoes were a table favorite. The grilled bacon and pimento cheese with the best okra I’ve EVER had…so amazing. I’ll most definitely be back, can’t wait to try more things and have another delicious...

This place is a MUST TRY in Sherwood if you appreciate made-from-scratch home cooking. It was crazy busy on the Thursday night we went, but the Buttermilk Chicken dinner I ordered was hot, arrived quickly, so tasty and cooked perfectly! And the staff.. I think most of them were the ownership team, were so friendly and attentive.. great service. The atmosphere is still a little warehousey, I wouldn’t say cozy.. they could use a few more personal touches in the space to warm it up a little. Sang karaoke in the back room with a lively bunch… our group had a great time. The food here is so good.. I hope as time goes on for this new restaurant, that level of quality...
