Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls — Restaurant in Short Pump

Our first two visits to this location when we ate there were excellent. On our third visit we ordered take out and when I got the food home and opened the package I was immediately greeted with an awful “fishy” smell. It was so bad that my wife could smell it in the next room. Foolish perhaps, but I did decide to try at least one bite and immediately spit it out because it tasted as bad as it smelled. If not for the 10 mile drive back to the location I would have immediately returned this disgusting mess for a refund. Instead, we just threw both rolls away. Interestingly enough, I did receive a text through Toast asking for feedback about the visit - - this feedback is supposed to shared with the restaurant. I ordered a Bar Harbor Connecticut Roll for myself and a regular Connecticut Roll for my wife. I also ordered a Lobster Bisque and a potato salad. My wife’s Connecticut Roll was great. The Lobster on the top of my Bar Harbor Connecticut Roll was over cooked. However, the lobster on the bottom were small pieces but cooked great. The Lobster Bisque was delicious, but not hot enough and no spoon provided. The Potato Salad was great, but no fork provided. Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls in Short Pump has only been open for 2 weeks and I will definitely give them another chance. Without doing a review or not providing any feedback, they can’t explain...

We had a fantastic lunch. We tried several things—the Connecticut roll, which was buttery, soft, and served on a crispy bun; the Lobster Salad roll, which was in mayonnaise on a crispy bun; and the lobster mac and cheese, which was incredibly creamy. This was on par with the lobster we have had in New England. I see several comments about the price per roll. Yes, it is $20 per roll. If you go to Five Guys, you will spend that on a burger meal.
