So I was lucky enough to grow up around German, Polish ,and Italian cooking in upstate New York. I have eaten German food in Texas, Colorado Springs, I was also fortunate enough to grow up with people who grew up during the depression learned how to make really good food on a budget. Fresh meats, fresh vegetables, etc. today after my medical visit my best friend and I went here. She told me how amazing it was ( let me tell you ) the owner was extremely warm and welcoming. It felt like you were coming into her kitchen, simple, basic, and charming. I have the jaegerschnitzel with red cabbage( each meal comes out with a beautiful loaf of homemade crusty bread with wonderful butter.) The mushroom sauce was perfection. The pork was cooked to perfection and so tender, the potatoes (as far as I could tell was made with onion and bacon) and a dash of wonderful seasoning. Iām a big guy at 6 foot 1 ,245 with a healthy appetite. I can tell you that every bite was delicious and I left full. Keep up the wonderful work. (Why people never give five starsš. I will never know ,) lol if I could, I would give 10 stars āļøš¤©š„° The menu is simple as it should be. Everything was definitely made with love and skill. Danka...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to Angelika's on the recommendation of a local patron. We checked the time of the establishment and arrived there at 355 pm, 10 minutes past the cutoff time. It was pouring out! The owner herself came out to see what it was we wanted and we were unkindly turned away. The stated time is that they are open until 5:00 and in my opinion this is a very shoddy business practice to have two paying customers show up at 3: 55 and be told as much that the place was closed but the door was not locked. Having worked in food services myself in the past I do understand the desire to get away after you've put in a full day, but in my day of working in food services if customers came in slightly before closing time, we would tell them that there were a few things available off the menu but not the full menu set. Most people acquiesced to this request and we still managed to get the restaurant closed up when we were supposed to. I traveled a long way and was looking forward to trying this German establishment as I love German food. I would give less than a one star for this experience if I possibly could! If I lived in the area there would never be a repeat experience with that kind of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe dined in for a late lunch/early dinner. We tried the sausage platter which came with 3 different types of sausage and a side of kraut. I'm not a kraut gal but my husband ate it all happily and Said it was slightly sweet, warm and fresh. The sausages each had different flavor but all were tasty. We also tried the Pastrami sandwich on the French bread. The bread was soft and warm with a crunch crust. The veggies were fresh and the meat flavorful. The kind of food you savor. My husband tried the carbonated water which he liked and I had the iced tea which was a nice mild black tea.
For dessert we tried the apple blueberry streusel with vanilla ice cream and whipped topping and a tall slice of cheese cake. The cheese cake was creamy light and rich with a hint of lemon flavor. The streusel was warm and comforting with sweet delicious flavor. The crust could have used a little crisp but it was still very good.
Angelika was friendly greeted and seated us and took our order. It wasn't too busy but there were other diners. We were tempted by all the chocolate and other goodies on display as well.
Overall a delightful...
