If you look up “hidden gem” in the dictionary, you’ll find a picture of Champ’s Deli Restaurant. I’ve passed by this spot so many times and never gave it a second look but now that I know it exists, I wish I would’ve gone sooner. They have a wide assortment of different foods to choose from ranging from foods you’d find in a traditional deli, to American classics, some Mexican items and a fair amount of Korean dishes as well. I’ve only been once, but I’m eager to go back and try out more of their menu. During my visit, I had the Champ’s Cheeseburger. It’s a bacon cheeseburger with avocado and a fried egg on top. It was as messy as it was delicious. I opted to make it a combo. It came with crinkle cut fries. They were perfectly seasoned. They were crispy on the outside, nice and fluffy on the inside. They were pretty much perfect. Champs is definitely worthy of the name and I’m excited to return.

Saw a 1 star review about no bathrooms is kind of petty. There's plenty of places with no bathrooms. Actually try the food, use your hand sanitizer, God knows since covid everyone has some. Anyways on to my review: Was expecting an Italian deli. Looks like it was originally one only but now it's under new management/ownership? I originally wanted a deli sandwich but saw they were also basically a Korean restaurant, I ordered the beef bulgolgi burrito. This was pretty tasty. I just wish they was more meat and instead of lettuce to use kimchi instead. A little pricey considering there wasn't any one else in the shop. I think if they lowered it by a dollar would still be reasonable. I do recommend the burrito.

Nice and clean place. I got chicken wings and they make them just how I like them, very fry, they gave me 3 types of sauces, ranch, ketchup and something spice that was good. The costumer service is good too. Other thing I love is the fresh squeeze orange juice they have for $3. I would definitely be back here.

This hidden gem in Signal Hill is a great place to stop and have lunch with the family. I ordered the turkey and avocado sandwich, which was delicious with soft bread and lots of turkey. My son had the chicken wrap which they cut up into tiny little circles: he loved it. My wife had the tuna salad which was fresh and crisp. My other son had the chicken teriyaki which comes laid on a bed of soft white rice and an extra cup of teriyaki sauce. We also had some made-from-scratch potato salad and ice cream. Everything was good. The restaurant is clean. They have an all you can drink iced tea station and coffee in the corner, along with a fridge full of canned and bottled beverages that are ice cold. We met the new owners James and Annie, an older Korean couple who have a passion for the business. This new ownership has breathed new life into this Signal Hill restaurant which celebrates its 40th anniversary next year. If you're in the area stop by, I think they also do catering if you have big events or need to order lunch for your entire business. I would definitely recommend this to a friend stopping in for a quick bite to go or anyone wanting to sit down and have a good meal. They have American, Asian, Mexican and all kinds of...

Champ's Deli also has a catering menu which I ordered from for a Celebration of Life event in Long Beach, Sunday, September 29, 2019. The family chose the pasta bar which I personally have chosen on 2 past occasions. Their pasta bar is always consistently delicious and arrives hot in chafing dishes with gel fuel to keep warm. They always arrive on time and set up everything that's needed and you just call them when you are finished with your event so they can pick up all their equipment. One small detail impressed me greatly : their sliced carrots in their salad were cut into flowers!! Their customer service is 200%. James and Lisa helped me with things that were not even in their job description!!! They also have other selections such as a Japanese bar, Chinese, Mexican, sandwich, Thanksgiving, etc. I have only tasted their pasta bar. Very reasonable pricing per person. You cannot go wrong in choosing Champ's Deli...
