My HONEST review (no pun intended :])
Had 4 plates-
Vegetable sandwich (grill) - $7.99 Toasted bread with tomato, cucumber, green chutney with chips and ketchup on side.
My take....3/10. Dish was warm as expected. Extremely mediocre sandwich with mild taste for $8 (I mean c'mon tomato and cucumber only?!....one would think vegetable sandwich would have vegetables. However raw onions on side was on point with paprika on it.
Bahuballi sandwich grill - $11.49 4 layer sandwich shredded beet/carrot/onions/tomato/masala mashed potatoes with seasoned fries and ketchup on side.
My take....6/10...interesting taste..new thing to try. Dish was warm as expected. Hate it or love it type of taste. Didn't really appreciate the sweetness in the savory mix. If you like spicy sandwich like typical Bombay sandwich from India..stay away from this...
Btws I looked at some pics and ordered this based on how it looked and it looked different so I asked the guy where the cheese on top? He replied oh that's just for the pictures online...not cool man not cool. I wanted the cheese drizzle.
Veg noodles with Manchurian Essentially description as title says haha.
My take....5/10...very salty(coming from my sister who adds salt to all foods who thought it was salty) and very oily. Instant stomach reflux inducer. Again mediocre taste. Medium spicy. Noodles were cooked. Small amount of veggies. Food was warm as expected.
Mysore masala Dosa For those that don't know, it's a Savory crepe with special Mysore spice spread on it (medium to hot š„) with mashed potatoes mix inside and tomato red chutney and coconut white chutney and sambhar.
My take....6/10....mediocre taste. Dosa and mix inside was room temperature (not warm as expected) however it looked fresh. Taste was decent. It was not too salty or too spicy. If it was little more warm, it would've been better. Sambhar had a good taste and it was warm as expected. It was not too salty or spicy and had a good taste. Chutneys on side weren't anything special.
Comparison made with nearby restaurants (NOT India or NJ or bigger cities which have MUCH better food quality... obviously.
Overall, food quality was mediocre. 6/10. Nothing special, but certain plates maybe unique to this restaurant in comparison to others nearby in Harrisburg area like pav bhaji.
Would I come back again? Yes. I'd like to try other plates, but frankly, these plates were very disappointing and I will likely never order them again from here (perhaps I hyped myself up from "honest" name from India).
Service was decent. Gentleman was nice. Order at front of store first then sit...pay when you leave. Credit cards accepted. Breath mint fennel seeds/saunff/mukhwas at entry.
Tables were spaced. Felt okay. We took off masks when food came. Waiters/staff didn't wear masks just fyi if you care.
Btws they charge for water šš¼šš¼(understandable food prices went up a bit from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWorst Restaurant Experience ever! They are utterly incompetent to host and take care of their patrons. I ordered on call, they asked me to come after an hour and when I reached the restaurant, they told me that they donāt have me in the system. I have to wait for another hour for my food. Even when I was standing infront of them in disbelief that my order was not even in the system, they did not take my order again. I had to barge out of that place because of their unprofessionalism.
And it was not me alone! There was a guy who placed an order online and his order was also not captured. One lady called ahead for reservations and they told her it is not required, but when she reached the restaurant they were telling her that she needs a reservation, I mean come on!!!
I know initial few days at any restaurant can be overwhelming, but they were arrogant too. The guy in front was laughing on the matter where they failed to take someones order. New people coming in and they donāt even raise their head to welcome them or say hi or say please give us a minute and weāll be back.
The management needs to work hard on their customer service! Plus there was no social distancing in the dining area! Even now Iām sure they are going for 100% capacity which shouldnāt be allowed with so many tables nearby!
Edit 1(Based in the reply below): I understand that! Technical issues happens. But that was for other guy. I called you to place my order. I was assured and told to come in 1 hr. I just canāt fathom the idea of someone placing an order on call and the restaurant says we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA new Indian Veggie restaurant, successor, at this location to past failed Indian eateries, Bombay Jnc & Bawarchi. Before writing reviews I read other reviews to ensure fairness & check if others have had similar experiences. There were a few 5* reviews & several bad reviews. The bad reviews had a common theme 1.Rude, unfriendly staff & service, 2.long waits for food, 3.dismally small quantities, 4.stale & poorly cooked food & 5.exorbitant prices. How did my experience compare? My order (To go) - Chole & Puri's & 2 plain Naans The Lady at the cash register was polite & friendly. While we waited our order, 2 customers with online orders arrived. They were told they had a half-an-hour wait. They were not too pleased. 10 minutes after they left our order was ready. The restaurant was empty at the time. At home we checked the food.
1.The Chole was cold with thick congealed masala in a small container with barely 3 tbs Lime pkl tiny container with a smear of pickle. Puri's cold, stale, several days old. Fell apart in our hands. Naans looked store bought & warmed in a microwave. In summary our experience concurred with the 1* reviews. That begs the question, were the 5* reviews for Another restaurant more than one team of cooks The reviews were specious. Best of Luck, DisHonesT to you & all...
