Langano Ethiopian Restaurant — Restaurant in Silver Spring

Decided I would try a few of the local Ethiopian restaurants in my neighborhood since I always go into DC when I want Ethiopian food. Was so disappointed and disgusted with the service/food at Langano's. Firstly, we were seated and forgotten about to the point where we were getting ready to walk out (and I wish we had) but then our server showed up and ask if we were ready. We ordered the vegetarian platter along with some beef tips. The food arrived cold...some of the sides seemed chilled almost. Now I've had Ethiopian food before, as a matter of fact it's one of my favorites, and never before have I been served cold food and told it was customary when I finally tracked down a server. After going back and forth, explaining that I know the salad and beets should be cold but the entire platter being cold was unacceptable, the server offered to bring me two more servings of my choice that they would heat. I told her I don't want just two, I want my entire meal to be appetizing, she left again to speak to her manager. After another lengthy wait, the manager comes over and also says that this is the way Abbisha people eat their veggies. I told her I have eaten at many Ethiopian restaurants and never before have I experienced cold food as traditional. She returned with small plates to take my sides and heat them. At this point the entire experience and our appetites were ruined, but she was trying to make us happy, which is the only reason for the one star. Honestly I think they should not have even charged us for this experience or at least the bill should have been discounted, but I do get that they have to make a living, and so the full bill was presented and was paid, and a 15% tip was left. My daughter took one last sip of her water while we were taking care of the bill and to everyone's disgust there was a long hair stuck to the inside of the glass (gag) not floating; firmly attached to a substance on the inside of the glass. Despite the managers last ditched attempt to rectify the cold food situation the hair clinging to the inside of the glass put the whole horrible experience over the top. I will never return to this establishment. Poor service, cold food, unsanitary. Three...

The food is good, but the service is enough to never make go back here again. There are so many other Ethiopian restaurants with nice and kind people and delicious food. I had the worst experience with them and will never be ordering from them again. Here is what happened:

I ordered on Doordash at 6:07 and immediately called the store within 30 seconds to make sure they received my order and to choose the way I’d like the tibs prepared (wet or juicy) because it was not possible to specify through doordash.. I also chose my sides on the phone because it wasn’t possible for me to online. It was 6:08 when I called and spoke to her. The lady called back at 6:13 telling me my food was already done— but it wasn’t. I told the lady on the phone that I needed the tibs prepared juicy and she said it wasn’t possible. I told her that I would pay whatever difference or even order again online if I needed to so that I can get the food I actually want. She put me on hold for about 5 minutes and then hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to the manager instead to tell them about my issue— she said the manager doesn’t come in. I kept asking her how my food could possibly be finished cooking in 5 minutes when I just gave her my side orders? She told me there was nothing she could do and that she was working. She hung up on me again. I called back. No answer. I called the restaurant 12 times and eventually realized she had blocked my calls. I called back on a google number and it rang and she answered!

I told her that it was very unprofessional to block me and that she didn’t even try to help me out or listen to what I was saying. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed. I have been a long time customer of Langano’s and the service wasn’t always the best but it has never been this bad. I feel very hurt and extremely disappointed by the way I was treated especially since I have been ordering here for the last few years. I will never be returning here again as the food is never worth such disrespectful service and behavior. I would not...

I don't know what has happened to this restaurant !. They used to be one of my favorite place to visit . Lately the customer service & the food quality went down to the toilet 🚽 .

My Last three visit to this restaurant had been extremely horrible . If you're reading this .I want you to know that they had me waiting for one hour & half for one simple order & did nothing about . Not even explanation or even an apology .

after being there waiting & waiting..& .. I had to ask why it has taken them this long . They told me the Cook is by herself . And I ask why not tell me that when I placed the order or even when I was checking for my food status once every 15 min..to 20 min.. They started to get an attitude with me .( this was unbelievable !!)

For my last three trip to this restaurant with similar issues was happening again & again as it was normal for this restaurant . So ..I thought it would be different ordering with UBER& placed an order & asked for the food to be well done .( Guess what ? ) the food arrived raw & looked like it was left over from days ago .
