Mayflower Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Silver Spring

I was mildly buzzed walking in this joint. From the door, I didn't see prices besides on the lunch menu, the dining area had boxes stacked on the right side, there was no ambient sound or anyone sitting in there. When I was outside still, the front lady looked me dead in the eyes and yawned like she hadn't slept in 3 days. I knew this place was either garbage or serving straight heat.

I go up and ask, "How big is the Sesame Chicken?" She imitates my hands and says, "Big". I ordered that with BBQ ribs and Lo mein even though the only lo mein on the menu was shrimp, she asked, "What kind?". The place gave off trying to make rent vibes, the prices were higher than Blue Pearl but quality was better than Panda Express. ‼️‼️‼️This has always been my family’s go to carry out for years and we order the same thing every time literally and always paid $42 max and today when I called to place an order she said my total was $60 even and the prices weren’t adding up ! When I asked her for the prices of each item I was calculating and it didn’t add up she was charging me $18 extra and I was questioning on why it was so much and she got rude and kept repeating the prices but again the prices of the items I ordered wasn’t adding up! the owner is the one that picks up the phone and she’s rude and is just charging extra on your orders !!!...

The food is actually delicious, HOWEVER, this place has a major sanitation issue! I found multiple strands of hair in my sesame chicken!... I called, and it was a simple process for them to deliver a fresh batch; I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to get a refund. On another occasion, I found a long strand of aluminum inside of a piece of my chicken (not on top of, but cooked into the inside of my chicken!!), like the aluminum strands that make up a dish scrubber!!!!
