From the moment I walked in, I knew this would be a good experience. This spacious and modern dining area and bar was full of people but has just enough space for me, one white girl from TX who was in town for the night. I got great bar service for my first drink. A few dishes came out to surrounding parties and the aromatics of the Ethiopian meats lifted me from my fog. Their warmth enticed me to open my heart and stomach for a late night snack— I mentioned how good the food smelled and the owner, Shewa (Shaun he called himself to this white lady) came right over and gave me personal time to give me a sample of dried beef with sautéed onions and peppers with a really great piece of special bread and brought a selection of hot sauces. His willingness to share his food and talk about the space with me showed indefinitely his passion and warmth as a human. Throughout my time at the bar, a live DJ began a set to move the night into more of a dancy nightclub vibe. Bottle service seems popular. Service, atmosphere and food is...
Read moreExtremely enjoyed the food and Abdu Kiar’s performance( the two other singers and the band which included Abegaz were amazing too); however, the DJ played the music too loud afterwards and ended up giving us tinnitus. Literally, our ears were ringing for hours. We came there to have fun not to lose our hearing.
In addition, please someone let the DJ know that Ethiopians go to Ethiopian places to enjoy Ethiopian experience, mainly the food and music. I understand some people may have a preference for the kind of music the dj kept playing but at least try to incorporate Ethiopian music. Com’on, we have beautiful culture and music we can enjoy, not the loud nonsense the DJ kept playing.
Finally, the food was great and fairly priced. But the drinks were overpriced, especially when you add 20% service fee on top of that and the gratuity. To the owners, when customers feel they overpaid for any service they tend to shop around and never go back to patronize. Keep it nice and...
Read moreMy first time at this place, and the atmosphere is okay. The DJ played decent music, but the dance floor was somewhat empty until the performer started their act. People flocked to the dance floor due to the performer's energy. However, our server, Betty, provided unprofessional and extremely rude customer service. She insisted that we purchase something to continue sitting at our table. Despite informing her that I didn't drink, we ordered water. She continued to push us to buy something, so my boyfriend and sister reluctantly ordered margaritas, which they didn't enjoy. When we received the receipt, it showed a total of $68.70, which included $10 each for two water bottles, two top-shelf margaritas, and one special event soda (Coke). Additionally, there was a service charge of 20% after 6 pm. Yes, the water cost $20.00, and the soda was $5.00. Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I will not be returning to this location...
