Perhaps you are like me, who when finally finding a friendly ethnic restaurant will not even try anywhere else in that neighborhood? Years ago I had found a Mexican place near Sycamore which I liked for lunch, and so going east from the 118 I had always driven past Yolanda's on E. L.A. Avenue, without even stopping in to check the menu.

That is, until the first Friday afternoon in August, 2012. That day I discovered Yolanda's vegetarian lunch special for the terrace tables outside, and for the next hour I enjoyed the food, drink, service, ambiance, mood and friendly conversation between tables very, very much. Then came the bill.

Wow. I had heard Yolanda's had good fresh food, but also I had been told by friends that Yolanda's cost was much higher than other places. Turns out though that for lunch I had been paying much more at "my" local place on Sycamore. Thank goodness I finally stopped in, because Yolanda's is now my favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch in western Simi, due the quality and quantity of the freshly prepared food, and the courteous and prompt service, and yes, because of the...

Do you like micheladas? well dont get them here. Depressing af.

Do you like 20$ plates of slop and no meat?

that chile combo you will need a straw because its all sauce and no meat. Might as well serve it in a soup bowl.

One scoop of rice? Perfect i wanted to leave hungry

Atmosphere is ok. But the drinks and food are absolutely depressing slop. Its like going out to eat because you want to be depressed.

Eat here if you want to know what depression looks like in the form of food

Dont drink here because they cant make good micheladas and if you cant make good micheladas maybe you dont need to be serving alcohol because that was the saddest beer i ever had.

If you think this place is great I feel sorry for your entire life as you have yet to experience anything good.

If it wasnt for family functions id never eat here. The food is slop. Its all slop no substance. The drinks are boring. By the time i got my plate half my family was already done eating.

I was told this place was good but if thats good damn yall need to up your standards.

Straight ass depressing slop with...

Writing this in hopes of helping this establishment. The food is subpar... mini chimichangas were the best thing. The margaritas were decent. I understand it’s hard times however that’s the truth for everyone. When you spend money to sit in a hot parking lot and you spend $75+ you atleast want decent service or absolutely amazing food. It was all below average our server was rubbing us the wrong way, she was robotic and just going through the motions It’s like she was never a server before the pandemic so many other establishments to pick from who atleast offer quality food and service to those being served in the parking lot... being they suffered atmosphere. Also fix your salsa disgusting and watered down.. oh yeah won’t be ordering takeout either too cheap to offer a place for guests to order online and you never answer your phone....

This review is for the dairy-free, vegetarians, and vegans. Our go to is the tostada with fajita veggies. I've gotten it with plain veggies and adding tht fajita sauce takes it to another flavor level. So good! I asked if the sauce used on the fajita veggies was vegan and they said they thought so as it didn't have dairy. So that's a plus. I can't guarantee the refried beans in the tostada used are vegan but they thought so. If I ordered it again, I'd request rice as mine didn't come with any. I also requested no cheese and no sour cream to make it dairy free. Also, beware of the bean dip. We didn't know that it had dairy or chorizo in it. As soon as we tasted it it seemed off for us so we didn't eat any more. But just keep that in mind!

Eating at Yolanda's was an excellent experience all around. The staff was friendly, the food was very good and we were seated immediately. We arrived right in the middle of the dinner rush and the staff was very professional and courteous. There is plenty of seating and the atmosphere was nice. There is a very large, free parking lot with plenty of spaces and the parking lot is shared with many other stores. We enjoyed the food very much and would definitely come here again.

First time and just our luck, we got HAPPY HOUR! Staff was attentive and food was hot and ready to dig in. I am pretty sure that I have tried many soups, yet their Albondiga soup was hot and very delicious. Talk about saving money, the margaritas were only $6. Good things always happen to me 😁 I do eat a lot, so I think it was worth every dollar.
