Iron Horse Pub — Restaurant in Simsbury

The SImsbury High School Sports Hall of Fame had our 6th annual golf tournament fundraiser October 7th 2023 at beautiful Hop Meadow CC. Nobody better then our friends @ Hop ⛳️.

After a great day of golf, memories & camaraderie, 60 folks trucked a mile down Plank Hill road for our dinner banquet celebration at Iron Horse Sports Pub.

The staff at Iron Horse could not have been more accommodating & flexible. Due to weather conditions we weren’t sure what time the Trojan HoF crew would invade IR. They said just let us know and we will be ready for you.

Thankfully we were able to get our tourney completed and walked into Iron Horse to their atrium banquet room. It was all set up for us, and we were greeted with a big smile & welcome from Frank Ippolito.

Frank & his IR staff were all set up for us, and everything was as planned. The private room bar was ready to roll. With wide screen TV’s going with college football, the bartender’s ready to take beverage orders, the cold portions of our buffet all set to go, Frank even had a Bluetooth system at our ready for music.

The awesome Trojan vibe that we had from Hop Meadow CC continued on at the Iron Horse Sports Pub venue.

These folks were so accommodating & helpful to insure our night was a success.

We had food & dessert left over, and Frank made announcement that folks could make up a “to go” box, and brought out containers for us to use. The delicious deserts ( as was the outstanding food) were absolutely the first attack for those take away options!

Sorry for the long review, I don’t write many of these, however I felt that the folks @ Iron Horse Sports Pub took such great care of our crew that I needed to share our experience.

Definitely consider using this establishment for your upcoming Group events, small or large. And with the 2023 holiday season fast approaching, cannot think of a better venue to make your gathering a success.

We love going to the Ironhorse Pub for the fun ambiance and the Blackened Salmon Salad. The combination of perfectly seasoned blackened salmon, fresh crisp greens, and a medley of vibrant vegetables created a symphony of flavors and textures that left my taste buds dancing with joy. Try it with Feta Cheese instead of Cheddar for a unique twist.

The salmon was expertly cooked, moist, and flavorful, with a delightful char that added a smoky depth to every bite. The freshness of the salad ingredients was evident, and the house-made Chipotle dressing elevated the dish to a whole new level. The balance of flavors was simply impeccable, making it a standout choice on the menu.

Apart from the culinary delight that was the Blackened Salmon Salad, the ambiance at Ironhorse Pub was warm and inviting. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, ensuring a top-notch dining experience. The pub's cozy atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for a fun meal - and you can keep abreast of your favorite sports teams.

Can no longer order pick up here anymore due to the constant staff issues for months now. They don’t greet anyone letting customers stand around for sometimes up to 10-20 mins waiting to just speak to anyone to pick up their food order. Managers seem overworked and rude when consulted. Constant lost food tickets, lying about how it will be ready in one minute (even tho the ticket was lost it turns out) and the staff can’t understand how to look up orders by name vs DoorDash and won’t ask for clarification from customer they will keep telling you one minute until you the customer figure out they don’t even know where or what your order is. Please train your staff both FOH and BOH. Insufferable experience picking up here for months and months it doesn’t seem to get better. Also the teens at the front have convos with themselves at the counter without ever acknowledging the guests waiting patiently at the counter and finish their convos then disappear without ever greeting...
