Parking lot has lots of damage, it's really small, employees park close to the building leaving the customers to park further out, the grease and trash dumpsters were also upfront in the parking area, when I say upfront I'm referring to the back of the building because that's where about 90% of the parking is. The building is in need of some repairs and touch ups outside.
The inside lacks some lighting in dining area. It doesn't seem to have had any updates since it opened years ago, damages and food on the divider walls. The food bars have people reaching all the way under the protective glass to grab tongs and food, they were also using the tongs for other foods without using the specific tongs for ea item. There was lots of issues with food mixing within the holding pans and the person bringing out new food was picking displaced food back into it's original container,. They was only topping off the food pans and not replacing them although they were out filling pans frequently.
The tiny bowls made it extremely hard not to spill so there was lots of food, sauces, and oils on the other foods/oils/sauces and floors, the ladles and tongs also felt disgusting. The sign says only one bowl at a time per a person but come on those are ridiculously small and you spend 2/3rds more time in line than you do eating. There was many people over filling two bowls each trip.
The cooks did not wear beard/facial hair nets. They kept mixing other people's food into mine and/or taking away from my already single bowl amount. The person that brought our drinks and removed plates was attentive.
The restrooms are right next to the food bars which is the worst spot ever. They had no water pressure, graffiti scratched into...
Read moreIf you’ve never been here or to another similar Mongolian grill…. think Pancheros, Chipotle or Subway style of ordering, but meets Asian buffet. Yes, it’s Mongolian, but I’m describing it for others. It’s a long buffet of multiple choices of meet, beef, pork, chicken, and sometimes some seafood. Then you have Pad Thai, noodles, etc., and then a long line of veggies, and garnishments. Grab some beef and pineapple, water chestnuts, spinach, squash, broccoli, sprouts, etc., etc. Fill up to your hearts desire. Then at the end, a wide assortment of sauces. Many of which are all good all by themselves, however, you can mix and match and they even have suggested recipes to make certain flavors by combining them in certain amounts. Then you bring it to the massive circular grill where the cooks drop probably up to a dozen or so meals at a time on, and cook them up fresh right in front of you as you wait. The wait won’t be long, as they cook fast. The whole process goes pretty quick, aside from if there is a long line. Like what you got? Go get more of the same. Want to try something different, great, go mix it up, because the price covers all you can eat in that sitting. It may feel like a lot to choose from at first, but once you get the swing of it, which you will quickly do, it will be hard not to find meals that you like. It’s well...
Read moreIts impossible to find a chinese buffet or any buffet for that matter in Sioux City, IA. I remember King Sea Buffet downtown, Valentinos in South Sioux, and the mall chinese. Huhot is all we have left that i am aware of and my favorite restaurant. These folks went out of their way to help me celebrate a birthday after i was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I wasn't doing well at the time and was after recovered from being air lifted to emergency cancer surgery. After I called to reserve a large area marked off they went way over expectations by providing balloons, flowers, and ice cream. It had been a long time since i had been cheered up and they did that and more for me..it was truly a great experience. Huhot''s food is exceptional and im so picky they always cook it great. The vegetables are always full no matter how buy they are, and staff is very friendly. They are usually very busy during meal times. Waiting is made less painful as they provide fun trivia on the tv and is fun to play by yourself or family members who think they can beat ya. Nope!!! In conclusion if you have not tried Huhot its a must. it may take a time or two to get the recipe right but once you do, you will crave coming...
